The Success Of Chinese Weight Loss Tea
Last Updated ( Thursday, 17 April 2008 )

Overview

Tea and China are almost synonymous, dating back for centuries when merchants carried tea grown in the East to consumers in the West.  Individual farmers today are primarily controlled by government contracts to grow and harvest tea for quick sale.  This, of course, has resulted in somewhat poorer quality than before.  Growing tea takes time and effort, which has been replaced by mass labor production and modern scientific technology.  However, tea is tea, and there are many types of Chinese weight loss tea, however, that are recommended for losing weight .  Some of these you may be familiar with, such as green tea and oolong, but others on the market are less well known, but still worth looking at when trying fast weight loss .  Each variety of Chinese tea is unique in flavor, based upon the region where it’s grown, the length of the growing season, and the final harvesting and processing of the tea leaves. Type of Chinese Tea

We’ll provide a brief description of several types of Chinese weight loss tea below, not necessarily in the order of importance or potential weight loss amounts:

  • Green tea – contains more antioxidants and more caffeine because of less oxidation.  The caffeine interacts with something called EPCG (epigallocatechin gallate), which induces fat burning, or thermogenesis, at an increased rate of about 4 percent.  It is believed that this popular Chinese weight loss tea will result in a person losing an additional 70 calories a day.
  • Pu-erh – partially oxidized, this Chinese weight loss tea is somewhat unique.  The leaves are compressed into bricks or cakes, called Tuochas, which closely resemble bird nests.  The tea has an earthy flavor, which may be due to its aging in caves.
  • Oolong or Wu-long – a familiar brand of Chinese weight loss tea that is often served in restaurants.  It has a distinct flowery taste and can vary in strength and flavor.  The more fermented, or oxidized, tea is proven to aid in digestion.
  • Baozhong – a variety of tea that keeps the antioxidants of green tea and provides the boost to metabolism found in other tea such as oolong.
  • White – this type of tea may have even more benefits than green tea since the leaves are steamed almost immediately after picking.  As a result, it retains more antioxidants and more caffeine needed to promote weight loss.
  • Wu-yi – another form of oolong Chinese weight loss tea is grown in the Fujiian Province of China.  Some have claimed weight loss of 20 lbs. in two months, while drinking wu-yi tea on a daily basis.
  • Black tea – the type of tea we are most familiar with.  Although it has fewer nutrients and antioxidants, it is still recommended as a Chinese weight loss tea.

Side Effects

Certain properties of Chinese weight loss tea, namely the caffeine, may cause insomnia, irritability, more frequent urination, increased heart rate and blood pressure, stomach upset, headaches, and even anxiety.  Constipation may occur due to the tannins in the tea; however, these can be counteracted by adding milk.  Blood sugar levels may rise.  Like anything else, Chinese weight loss tea must be consumed in moderation.  Anything to an excess may result in psychological dependency or in extremely rare cases, withdrawal symptoms.

Conclusion

Drinking a cup of tea with, or after, a meal adds only 4 calories to your diet, far less than the number of calories in any other beverage.  Besides the obvious health benefits of lowering cholesterol and providing the necessary antioxidants for your body to function well, Chinese weight loss tea boosts the metabolism.  The polyphenols found in Chinese weight loss tea are proven fat burners.  Some varieties may produce faster results than others due to the amount of caffeine present, but an amount certainly less than found in coffee.  We can conclude that all types of Chinese weight loss tea can be beneficial toward achieving your weight loss goal.  They provide a simple, but healthy, alternative for safe and effective weight loss.
