Skinny Bitch Review

Skinny Bitch is a book that has swept the community of those who wanted to lose weight. It’s not your regular book of diet tips wherein you can get some recommendations and no-no’s on the foods that should be avoided while on a diet. The book actually creates a chilling yet hilarious depiction on what you should or should not eat if you want to lose weight fast. The book was published December, 2005 but only gained popularity late 2006 when Victoria Beckham (wife of soccer superstar David Beckham) was seen in public with the book. Sales immediately improved and people started talking about the book.

Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin have done quite a few books since then and even have boxed sets.

In Your Face Advice on Losing Weight

This weight loss guide book is not a traditional weight loss advice literature wherein it details the advantages of losing weight. Instead of taking this route, the authors opted to describe how meat is processed. What they try to convey is that meat ultimately is not as safe as everyone think. There are still microbes left that would cause some diseases or it would have long term effects on their body. The authors actually do not hold anything back: even the language is a bit “extreme” for others because of its vulgar methods of writing.

But if you read beyond the vulgar words, this book actually provides a smart idea on how to lose weight. A meat-based diet is good but it will not help in losing weight because of the additional calories and fats. This book pushes for veganism as an ideal method in losing weight.

Proactive Recommendation

Fortunately, this is not a book that simply rants on those who wanted to eat meat. The book also lists some recommendations on the ingredients, vegetables and fruits that would help anyone lose weight. When followed, you should be able to reduce the calorie intake since the recommendations are mostly vegan.

But do remember that a vegan lifestyle automatically translates to an improved weight loss program. It’s always important to double check the calorie content of each vegetable and fruit so that you avoid ending up gaining weight even though you already have a vegan diet.

1st Half vs. 2nd Half

Most, if not all, reviewers of the book noticed that the book can be divided into two parts. The first part is on how you can lose weight through vegan lifestyle. This includes the recipes you can consider following if you want to reduce calorie intake. The second half of the book focuses on self-esteem. Unfortunately, the book tries to convey that your weight and body built is directly related to your self esteem. Many who have read the book reacted against this since being fat doesn’t necessarily mean low self esteem. The 2nd half of the book practically bashes those who do not lose weight.

Will You Buy this Book?

This book was written for two reasons: to help those who wanted to lose weight through vegan food and to give many readers something fun to read. Unfortunately, this book has catered mainly to vegans as it creates a negative view to those who are fond of consuming meat.
