What Is Green Tea
Green tea is derived from the tea plant Camellia Sinensis; most commonly grown in Asia, it has become increasing popular all over the world. Organic green tea is effective due to its ingredients that contain natural metabolism boosters and powerful antioxidants that aid in cleansing the body and providing protection from disease. The increase in metabolism essentially burns more calories resulting in the loss of weight just by drinking green tea. Research reveals that Japanese green tea and chinese green tea has been used for thousands of years for medicinal purposes, to regulate body temperature, balance blood sugar levels, and to aid in the digestive process. Types of Green Tea
There are several types of green tea, primarily Sencha and Gyokuro. The difference between the two lies in the way they are grown. Sencha is a higher grade organic green tea grown in full sun; Gyokuro is grown in full shade. Green tea powder versions of both (matcha green tea) are also sold and taste distinctly different. Another type of herbal green tea is Bancha, a lower grade that is harvested late in the season. Immediately upon harvesting, there is a green tea extract, which means the leaves are steamed or baked and dried as to prevent any oxidation. The quality and cost of the orgranic green tea is based on which harvest the tea came from (the first harvest is the best green tea), and which leaves it originated from, the top 2-3 green tea leaves contain the highest quality and best flavor.
Additional Benefits of Green Tea
Green tea contains catechin polyphenols, which are antioxidants that provide many health benefits; for instance, improved cardiovascular function, and assistance in eliminating “free radicals,” which can damage cells and increase chances for disease. Drinking green tea inhibits the fatty acid, synthase, which is responsible for turning carbohydrates into fat. Another benefit of green tea is the enzyme Amylase which contributes to the breakdown of carbohydrates, as well. A green tea diet has been proven to lower LDL (the bad cholesterol) and triglyceride levels. Theanine is an amino acid found in green tea bags, green tea drinks and green tea pills that helps promote a calm sense of well-being and is effective at burning visceral fat that has been linked to Type 2 Diabetes. We recommend the most beneficial way is to drink green tea. It does not matter if you drink cold (such as snapple green tea or arizona green tea) or hot with green tea bags (such as egcg green tea).
Possible Side Effects of Green Tea
There are virtually no side effects with drinking green tea, however, as with any new diet regime, consult with your physician prior to starting a green tea diet. It is not advisable for pregnant or nursing women due to the small amount of caffeine (less than in a cup of coffee) contained in green tea. Avoid consumption to an excess because that may lead to sleeplessness and/or irritability. However, we have found that the Theanine in herbal green tea helps negate the side effects of caffeine. Some studies suggest that it may be harmful to patients with thyroid problems due to the high fluoride content in tea. Can I Lose Weight Drinking Green Tea?
Combined with a healthy diet and exercise routine, Green tea weight loss is endorsed by Dr. Nicholas Perricone, an anti-aging specialist, who suggests by simply substituting your coffee intake with decaf green tea or non-decaffinated green tea, you can lose 10 lbs in as little as 6 weeks. In addition, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition conducted many studies and found that drinking 3-5 cups of green tea per day will burn approximately 80 calories. We recommend Green tea weight loss as a natural way to shed pounds and improve your overall health.
