First Thoughts...
I was a bit overwhelmed when I first accessed the diet.com website, with its abundance of information. I found this somewhat confusing, however, as to where to go first to even get started. Although there are numerous topics at the top, on the sides, and in the middle, I found the home page to be overly busy. This is a diet hub that directs you from page to page and explores everything from 1,000 free recipes, fitness, and exercise to blogs, celebrities, challenges, videos, and much more. It becomes somewhat difficult to navigate to these various subjects, which detracts from the usability of the diet.com website and an understanding of their Weight Loss Program.
Since we have to start somewhere, the first item of interest seems to be to create a personal profile for developing an individual Weight Loss Plan that will fit your personality and lifestyle. You can either take time to complete the personality quiz, or skip it and go ahead and register for free. However, clicking on the home page topics invariably brings you to a page where you can join the Weight Loss Program. This does seem to be a prerequisite to obtain the full benefits of diet.com.
Fitness Challenges
Featured on their website are youtube videos, which are interesting to watch and listen to, but they seem to detract and add clutter to the already crowded home page of diet.com. We’re still on the home page and about halfway down we come to the fitness challenges, another feature of their Weight Loss Program that requires membership before challenging. These challenges might be fun to do, as they are offered regularly, and have motivation prizes such as free 6-month premium memberships, and the opportunity to blog with other members and challengers, as well.
I found lots of other diet resources on diet.com, which include meal, exercise, glucose, and personal weight trackers. In addition, members of their Weight Loss Plan may like having access to podcasts from diet.com, which can be loaded to their MP3 player or listened to through iTunes. The advice offered by Dr. Kushner, for premium members in the Weight Loss Program, seems to be good information, although the terms for membership in diet.com clearly state that this information does not take the place of consulting a medical professional or mental health specialist. The Diet Diva blogs about celebrities and Weight Loss Plans, and diet.com reviews everything from restaurants, books, and clothing to Weight Loss Programs, products, gyms, and the list goes on.
Finally...
In conclusion, I found diet.com to be a large community of dieters and would-be dieters, with lots to offer, and a great website for chatting, reading, and exchanging ideas and goals as you embark on your Weight Loss Plan. Certainly, on the plus side, the diet.com website is loaded with information and links to numerous other subjects. If you have the time and want to learn more about the diet world, the diet.com website seems to offer a Weight Loss Program that is all inclusive. Membership in this Weight Loss Plan starts at $2.47/week and does include a number of things such as e-mails from their resident medical expert with advice on getting results from the Weight Loss Program, as well as plenty of meal ideas and preparation, dining out guides, and 24/7 customer service.
