Phentermine Background:
Phentermine has probably the longest history of all the diet and weight loss supplements on the market today. Phentermine contains hydrochloride, a chemical that is used as an appetite suppressant, and the FDA approved it in 1959 after a series of laboratory tests were performed on rats. It was put on the market in the 1970’s and 20 years later, it was combined with another product, Fenfluramine. This product, known as Fen-Phen, was taken off the shelves in 1998, however, after an estimated 30% of consumers exhibited heart valve abnormalities.
Phentermine Uses:
Phentermine is taken orally as an aid in weight loss, primarily in cases of extreme obesity. It is thought to be effective over a short term, and recommended for no longer than 3 months. It is best taken once a day, 30 minutes to an hour in the morning before a meal. Your physician will prescribe the appropriate dosage, which may range from 8 mg to 37 mg in a tablet or capsule. If you should miss a day, don’t double the amount the next time.
Phentermine Pros:
Phentermine has been highly successful when used over the short term and primarily for cases of severe obesity. Others may benefit from taking Phentermine, as well, when combined with a healthy diet plan and exercise program. Appetite suppression occurs quickly, usually within 48 hours, and sometimes in less than 12.
Phentermine Cons:
Prolonged use of Phentermine, a controlled Schedule IV narcotic, may cause physical or psychological addiction. Since it stimulates the central nervous system, it may lead to sleeplessness. Other possible side effects include: blurred vision, dry mouth, irritability, upset stomach, constipation, or even a change in your sex drive.
Phentermine Not recommended for:

To Summarize Phentermine:
Phentermine is available through a doctor’s prescription, and through some weight loss clinics. It is sold under the brand name of Adipex, and generic blends of Phentermine can be found in some pharmacies, and previously on the Internet. Caution is advised, however, in purchasing other products you may see advertised as Phentermine, as it is illegal to purchase this online. There are many factors you should consider before taking Phentermine, and like most diet drugs, it should be considered only as an aid to exercise, healthy eating habits, and an improved lifestyle. Any weight you lose while taking this product may, in fact, be regained if these changes aren’t made, as well. Talk to your doctor who can advise you the best way to reach a safe and satisfactory weight loss goal.
