But of all the diet pills, machines and practices, nothing is more popular than the low carbohydrate and the low calorie diet meals. Each of these diet meals claims they are effective in losing weight in some way. Some, unfortunately, confuses one diet plan to another; thinking that the effects of one diet plan are almost the same as the other.

The Low Carb Diet Plan

Low carb diet plan refers to the idea of losing weight by greatly reducing carbohydrates in the body. Different diet plans are available in the market today particularly the Dr. Atkins Diet and the South Beach Diet. But these low carb diet plans has only one target – to reduce the carbohydrate – content in the body or carbohydrate deficiency. Carbohydrates are essentially an energy source of the body and if it is reduced, it will be forced to look for another source of energy. Since it cannot burn carbs, fats are burned instead thereby reducing weight and fat because it is used as an energy instead of being stored in the body as an extra weight.

Carb diet plan requires a lot of food screening as well as exercises . The body has to take in a limited amount of carbohydrates everyday. Complementing the lowered intake of carbs is to increase the bodily need of energy thereby burning fats since carbs are no longer available to be used as energy. That is why exercise is required in a low carb diet plan to ensure that fats are burned everyday.

Because of the popularity of this type of diet, there are foods in the market today that are marketed as low carb diets. There are also recommended ingredients with low carb content.

Advantages of Low Carb Diet Plan

Emphasis on exercises – the low carb diet plan is a classic lose weight plan – eat good food while practicing regular exercise. Some of these have ignored this fact but the low carb diet plan has returned this idea while making it even better. You’ll be able to lose weight fast and as safe as possible.

Fat burning – this type of diet is not just for weight loss but for fat burning. Low carb diet will ensure that you will burn as much fat as possible. When you increase your muscles the amount of fat that will be burned will also increase especially when you complement this diet with a good exercise.

Disadvantages of Low Carb Diet Plan

Expensive food – because of the popularity of South Beach and Dr. Atkins diet, specialized food became popular in the market. However, this type of foods often comes at a higher price that regular meal.

Low energy – most low carb diet plans recommend in taking multivitamins for a good reason. Low carb meals mean you’ll have less amount of energy in your body. The fat in your body does not have the same effect as a source of energy on the body when compared to carbohydrates. It would take some time before the body could finally adjust to fat burning as a source of energy.

Quick results but could go gain weight back quickly – weight loss is really fast but it could also go back as soon as you let go of the diet plan. Actively reducing carbs will burn fats really fast but when the food intake is not regulated, the original weight will be back.

Low Calorie Diet Plan

Low calorie diet plan on the other hand is an approach of losing weight by reducing the amount of calorie intake in the body. Calories are associated with weight gain since increase in calorie intake also increases the intake of fat in the body. Calories are an energy source but it comes with fats. If they are not reduced and burned as energy at the same time, there is a considerable weight gain.

This diet plan requires a lot of calculation on food and exercises. The person undergoing this diet plan has to actively calculate the calorie in every food they eat. It’s a very tedious job since you have to be conscious of what you will have to eat all the time. The relative exercise should also complement especially in losing calories in the body.

Advantages of Low Calorie Diet Plan

Slow but permanent – losing weight through low calorie diet plan could be frustrating for beginners since results are not fast, but once weight loss has been started, the chances of returning to the original weight are less as long as your caloric intake remains controlled.

Ideal for diabetics – lesser calorie intake will usually trigger increased usage of sugar as a source of energy. The sugar level in the body will be reduced through this weight loss plan.

Disadvantages of Low Calorie Diet Plan

Tedious – more often than not, most of those who go through the calorie diet plan give up because they can’t just calculate their calorie intake everyday. You’ll notice that people who often practice low calorie diet plan are movie stars and famous personalities since they have personal trainers who will calculate what food should be taken for them.

Dangerous side effects – calorie diet plan has to be done under doctor’s guidance. Even though low calorie intake could lead to weight loss, it might also come with complications. Calories are body energy and will lead to reduced energy. Metabolism through low calorie intake is also reduced which means our mind and body functions may not be optimal at times.

Conclusions

These weight loss plans are geared to answer a specific weight loss problem. If you want fast results, low carb diet plan is perfect for you but if you want to have a great body in the long run, the low calorie diet will work great for you. However, one should remember that calories and carbs are our natural sources of energy and reducing them might cause complications. Extreme caution has to be done with doing these weight loss plans to achieve a fat free and healthy body.
