Lipoxinol Fat Burner Reviewed

Summary

Lipoxinol is a registered trademark of an American brand called Sci-Core Research. Unfortunately, there are no signs of their home site on the internet, despite the fact that several fat burning seller websites, even Amazon.com, have the product on their list. Lipoxinol is another product of the weight loss family, relatively new to the market, the manufacturer and sellers claim it has a triple action formula to lose weight, according to them it would be like taking three products in one. The three functions claimed by advertisements are control of appetite, burn fat using thermogenics, and support for thyroid functions.

Main Ingredients

Although composition of Lipoxinol seems to be well guarded by the manufacturer, it has three main ingredients responsible for its supposedly triple function. It is important to notice that these compounds are in fact conglomerates of more basic ingredients, branded around fancy names to give the impression of a newly discovered medical component.

Fiberzide: Trademarked name and proprietary blend of glucommanan and xanthan gum. The exact proportions of these ingredients in the formula are not known, but let us review their properties.

Glucommanan: This fiber supplement can lower blood sugar levels, increase satiety (feeling of fullness) and contribute to digestive health. There are several research documents stating the effectiveness of glucommanan as a dietary supplement for those seeking to lose weight. PubMed has some articles on the matter:

Experiences with three different fiber supplements in weight reduction

Xanthan Gum: This is a polysaccharide component discovered by the United States Department of Agriculture more than 50 years ago, and today it is accepted as a safe food additive in America and Europe. However, there is absolutely no evidence about how Xanthan Gum could help people to lose weight, as its main uses are as a thickening agent and stabilizer. Nevertheless, there are claims that xanthan gum could help provide a feeling of fullness when mixed in no-fat dairy products.

Thermazine: Another trademarked name which contains a blend of thermogenic ingredients in a mysterious composition. These ingredients are:

Green Tea: A very well known Asian beverage, which is now expanded to western consumers. Green tea is said to provide several health benefits, and that is the reason Chinese culture has consumed it for more than 5000 years. Although there are no studies approved by the Food and Drugs Administration, about 25% of green tea delivers caffeine, which is probably the reason of its thermogenic effect.

Caffeine: This ingredient can have positive and negative effects, depending on many factors. It is a very well known stimulator of the central nervous system that can produce a boost of energy to people, or at least make them think they have more energy. Unfortunately, on the long term, caffeine consumed in large quantities can have a negative impact on health, making people to feel restless and irritable.

Forslean: This component is trademarked by Sabinsa Corporation, which states Forslean is a phytonutrient for weight management by promoting lean body mass, while at the same time lowering intake of calories through appetite suppression. Forslean is an extract of Coleus forskohlii with several studies and even awards on its behalf.

Thyrotrem: It is the third registered compound in the Lipoxinol formula. According to the manufacturer, its main function is to provide a boost in thyroid activity. Thyroid is an endocrine gland, which controls how quickly the body burns energy, so the idea behind Thyrotrem is to make the body consume more energy by stimulating the thyroid. Unfortunately, the endocrine system is so well balanced that this procedure might even harm the thyroid. The ingredients inside thyrotrem are:

Guggulsterones: Is a component isolated from the plant Commiphora Mukul, also know as Gum Guggul. Its main function is to stimulate the thyroid gland to increase the metabolic rate of the body.

Sclareolide: This is a component made of clary sage and its main function is also to boost functioning of the thyroid gland.

Kelp: Are large algae that grow in underwater forests. These algae are rich in iodine and alkali. Iodine works as a constituent of the thyroid hormones, thyroxine and triiodothyronine. It is the only compound of Thyrotrem which does not try to modify behaviour of the thyroid, but to really support its function.

Conclusion

Lipoxinol has many know ingredients with proven positive results in the fat burning market. And although some components on the formula seem to be safe and even positive as dietary supplements, unfortunately, Thyrotrem compound actually modifies behaviour of a very important endocrine gland, as is the thyroid. Although kelp algae are present in the formula to probably support this boost in thyroid function, we don’t know how blends are prepared as they are all proprietary formulas. Modifying the endocrine system in such a way is like modifying the engine of a car to work faster, producing all kind of undesirable effects on the long term. As a result, Lipoxinol should be taken with medical supervision, with special care on the thyroid gland.
