The three main goals of the Master Your Metabolism book are Remove, Restore and Rebalance. As a person who once suffered from weight loss issues, Michaels explains how she removed anti-nutrients from her diet, restored foods that boost fat burning and rebalanced her energy and hormone levels to make losing weight easier. The book also include shopping lists to help the reader choose the right foods to lose weight, recipes and guides to eating on the go without crashing your metabolism.

How Can Food Choice Outweigh Caloric Intake?

Many people have trouble losing weight despite doing everything right. They are exercising, logging food intake and eating a reduced calorie diet. But, the weight just does not move when they step on the scale. Foods today contain more chemicals than ever before. From the farms to the processing plants to the shelves, there are often several stages of chemicals added to foods to make them grow larger, grow better and last longer. These chemicals, according to Master Your Metabolism, could be the cause of an ongoing weight loss plateau or easy weight regain.

Jillian Michaels is a huge fan of organic foods. These foods are grown naturally and thus tend to have a shorter fresh life span. Canned foods are also available in organic. Adding organic foods to the diet removes the harmful chemicals that tend to throw hormones off balance leaving the scale as the enemy. Once the chemicals have been removed, Master Your Metabolism claims the weight will fall off and many readers agree it will.

A Let Down?

Some Jillian Michaels' fans were a bit disappointed by the Master Your Metabolism book. According to these readers, the book took 288 pages to simply say, eat fewer chemicals and more organic food. The price of switching to an ALL organic lifestyle is also a concern for many readers. While all organic may be healthier, the cost to feed a family of four would be astronomical and, for some, simply too much to spend.

The positives of the book are just as strong as the negatives. Readers remark about how much  they learned from this book beyond what they expected to read. Nutritional labels, chemical names and alternative uses for these food chemicals are all included in the Master Your Metabolism book.

The Master Your Metabolism book offers some real information that many dieters need to know. It explains the basics of boosting metabolism like eating breakfast every day and never eating carbohydrates before bed, but beyond that it teaches about chemicals, pesticides and preservatives on a level that many readers did not expect. The book may be better as an educational tool than a source for a new diet plan.
