Dr. Oz One Day Diet - How the Plan Works

Dr. Oz is one of the most well respected experts in the medical community.  Not only is he personable, but he offers sound advice to his legions of followers.  Recently, he rewrote the textbook on dieting by offering the Dr. Oz One Day Diet.  While this Mediterranean diet won’t revamp people’s bodies in a single day, he believes the one day approach is what people need if they are going to turn their lives around.  This approach consists of a diet plan and nine rules that dieters need to follow.

One Day Diet Plan

Those who take part in the Dr. Oz One Day Diet need to follow a strict Mediterranean meal plan.  Although the name of the diet is the “Dr. Oz One Day Diet,” people should follow this plan daily.  The plan is:

  • 300 calories for breakfast
  • 400 calories for lunch
  • 500 calories for dinner
  • 125 calories for each snack

People can use recipes to prepare their own meals or purchase readymade foods.  Additionally, they can dine out one night a week.

One Day Diet Rules

According to Dr. Oz, eating the right foods is not enough.  People should also follow nine rules.  These rules can help people lose up to 10 pounds each month.

The rules are:

  • Renew your vows daily - Dr. Oz recommends that people recommit themselves to the diet every morning when they wake up. However, instead of saying, “I am going to follow this diet forever,” people need to say, “I am going to follow this diet for the next 24 hours.”  This makes it easier to reach goals.
  • Do something completely different every day - When people are in a rut, they fall into the same routines. They reach for the extra chocolate bar, add some additional salt on the popcorn or get a second helping at dinner.  Do something different every day so you can break out of the rut.  The new thing can be as simple as eating a vegetable or going to bed earlier.
  • Set your kitchen on automatic - If you have unhealthy foods in your kitchen, you will probably eat them.  Thus, take all of the bad foods out and replace them with foods you can eat on this Mediterranean diet.
  • Keep your belly full - The best way to keep your metabolism working (and to fight off hunger) is to stay full.  Because of that, it’s a good idea to eat two protein rich snacks a day.
  • Extend the burn - Drink water with your meals and take a 20-minute walk after each meal. This will put your metabolism into overdrive so you can burn those excess calories.
  • Check portions - Even an extra 100-200 calories a day can lead to weight gain.  Because of that, it is important that you check your portions so you don’t overeat.
  • Chill out - Stress can cause weight gain, so if you start to feel stressed, consider doing yoga, meditating, or simply being nice to yourself.
  • Get enough sleep - If you don’t get at least seven hours of sleep a night, your appetite-controlling hormones will get out of whack. Therefore, make sure you get enough sleep every night.
  • When you blow it, start again - It’s natural to fall off the wagon from time to time. If you do, you need to get right back to the diet plan.  You might need to do some yoga to get your body and mind right, or you might need to ease back into your exercise routine.  Whatever it is that you need to do, get it done so you can reach your goals.

By combining the proper diet with the nine rules, people can lose weight and stay motivated.  They can tackle each day as it comes, and set small goals that are easy to attain. Because of that, the Dr. Oz One Day Diet has the power to help people lose weight and feel great.
