I have not finished yet, but plan to do another cycle when I am done. (I am at the end of week 7 right now.)
Do you just start over after the recovery week of block 3? Do you take a few weeks off to sort of "reset" your muscles so they can get back into muscle confusion? Do you just recycle block 3? (ie alternating block 1 and 2 every 2 weeks?) I am curious because my fiance will be starting P90X with me when I start my second cycle. Wanted to sort of give her a time frame as to when she should expect to start. |

I have been wondering the same thing. I feel it will take 2 cycles to get where I want to be. Inquiring minds....

I was curious why you think you need to do the program twice to get where you want to be? I am also under the impression that it is going to take me longer that 90 days to REALLY get in shape. Can you give me you starting height weight BF etc, progress to date and goal? To answer you question though yes you can do the program again in varying intensity again when you are done. I have had friend to it exactly the same way and other mix in more running or weights depending on the goal.

My thoughts on why I need to go twice. The biggest reason is that I am starting out of great shape. According to the literature this program is for athletes that are in good shape...so, I believe that after 90 days I will meet that criteria...the second 90 days should provide the resuls I am looking for. Started out at 6' 220, about 29% body fat. Would like to get my bodyfat to about 15% or so and just get into great shape again.

Well I guess it wasn't necessarily the question of IF I could do the program again, but when....
I thought I remember seeing somewhere that it wasn't suggested that you start the second cycle within a week of the end of the previous. I was trying to find out what the grace period is between cycles. Also the question of if you start another cycle or if you just keep repeating phase 3. (Phase 3 is just alternating phases 1 and 2 every 2 weeks.) As for reasons to do more cycles? There are a few reasons I started P90X. One of them obviously was to "GET RIPPED!", but that wasn't my only goal. My wedding is coming up early next year, so I wanted to impress my fiance and family. I also have a history of diabetes in my family, so REALLY trying to prevent any risk of that in my future. So while I guess you could say I am doing P90X, I am more doing P(Infinity)X. I plan to keep doing the plan until I can't do it anymore or find something better. I started at: Weight: 208.9 lbs Height: 6' BF%: 30% (I used an online thingy, so this % could be off a bit) Waist: 43" Hips: 39" Day 30 Weight: 198 lbs Height: 6' BF%: 25% (Used the same guide as before to try and find a relative change) Waist: 38" Hips: 38" I am currently on my recovery week of Phase 2, so I will have my day 60 measurements at the end of the week. Obviously I am recording all of the other dimensions as well, but didn't really want to post them all down. Regardless, I am definately seeing a lot of change and really loving the program. I actually LIKE to workout now, no program has ever done that for me to this date. |

I'm in week 11 right now and am giving a lot of thought to my post P90X routine. I really want to get back to a lot of running, which is my first love and should be a lot easier now that I'll be 15 lbs. lighter than I was in April.
At the conclusion of P90X, I have to undergo an elective medical procedure that is going to shut me down for about a week. After I get through that, I will have about four weeks until my family's beach vacation in August. I am going to try a modified version of Phase 3 where I do three resistance days with days of running in between. On the running days, I'm going to supplement with 20-30 minutes of yoga, core and plyo. My body type seems to be telling me that I need more cardio than P90X is giving me and I'm going to see if that gets me to where I want to be. I love, love, love P90X and can see it being a part of my fitness lifestyle for many years to come. It has given me enlightenment about yoga and I think that I will start taking a class here and there at my gym as well as doing some episodes of Namaste Yoga on FitTV. I also realize that the half-ass core stuff and lifting I had been doing before just wasn't getting the job done. The pushups and pullups (especially the pullups!) will have to be part of the deal from now on. Thanks and good luck, Dave |
