I guess you could almost say my fiance and I are "sick." We have been doing doubles for awhile, but feel the cardio video is kind of a waste of time. We enjoy the yoga portions, but besides that, we don't get anything out of it.

What we have been doing lately, which is the topic of our "crazyness", is substituting plyo in for cardio.

So, every monday/wednesday/friday...we have plyo, muscle routine, ab ripper. For tuesday we ended up just doing kenpo with weight vests for sort of a more hardcore version. Normal kenpo on saturday as kind of a slow down for the end of the week.

So instead of 1 day of hell with plyo, we now do it 3-4 times a week. We are curious what kind of results we will see out of this. I mean, I used to burn something like 850-1000 calories per plyo session before. Tack that on to the classic routine? Feels more like "triples!" Haha.

Will let ya know how it goes.

Will be interesting to see if you can sustain it. Sounds like a recipe for burn-out to me.

Maybe, but I don't think it would be that much different than doubles. You do Cardio X three times a week as it is.

All that is really happening is:

-3 cardio
+2 plyo
+1 Kenpo

The problem is as I mentioned above, Cardio X doesn't do anything for us. We have had really bad urges just to skip it entirely. There is not a single move in the entire video that really pushes our heart rate up into the burn zone. We have to modify almost everything (minus yoga, since that isn't about pushing) so we actually feel it. Most times we end up doing almost double or triple the speed of the people on the video.

Only other thing I could think of would be to wear a weight vest during the entire cardio X.

If not the plyo route, what would be a better way to beef up the P90X routines? I know there is P90X+ and such, but we don't really want to put any more cash into it.

We already push our numbers/weight/reps in every muscle routine, and double time all of the cardio videos (kenpo, plyo, cardio). Anyone have some cool new ways to modify the series to make it harder?
