well i just started the p90x yesturday and i already feel terrible and im only 15 too. and along with your stomach problem so do i so dont feel bad there are alot of teenagers dealing with the same issues. I talked it over with my parents and they said that you should get at least 2000 caleries a day considering that you also run almost 2 miles every day. i hop you can transform your body the way you want it . GOOD LUCK

Re:Teenagers on P90x 9 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 4
Westpointchick and Jacob,

Welcome to both of you!! You're to be admired for taking control of your weight at a young age. A couple of suggestions:

First, be sure your physician knows that you're doing the program. He or she will likely be delighted to see you working out, and will want to work with you to ensure your success. These are extreme programs, but very successful programs. You'll need to push hard, even if you're in good shape, to accomplish your goals. Having the assurance that you're healthy enough to do the work will help you guarantee your success.

Second, everybody here struggles with diet. What to eat, when to eat, what not to eat, etc. You may not be able to get an absolutely clean diet and stick to it 100%, so do your best and forget the rest!! As time goes by, you'll find yourself making better meal choices and not eating certain things because you know better. Water is the best stuff around...better than pop, tea, coffee, and everything else. If you can't drink plain old water (like my wife) you can find flavored waters out there. Suggest that mom and dad buy that instead of the pop! Don't forget that you do need calories and carbohydrates are essential to your success. To bonk means to fail!

Lastly, most of us don't notice much change at 4 weeks. At 8 weeks it starts to show, and by the end of 3 months you'll notice major gains. I believe that's just about the time school starts, right? Your classmates won't recognize you! Also, remember that this is a lifestyle change...I've been doing something along the P90X line for nearly a year now and can't imagine doing anything else. It helps in my martial arts classes, and we work some P90X into the class time. Black belts LOVE Ab Ripper-X!!

Keep us posted on your progress!

Kevin

Teenagers on P90x 9 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
how ironic. im also fifteen and registered on this site just to ask the same questions. i mostly am just a weakling with an unattractive body similar to a piece of cow lard on a popsicle stick.

im 5'7 and weigh 130lbs. so its not so much about weight, and more about appearance.

i am just wondering if there should be any changes to the program because of my (and our, i suppose) age. thank you.

i'm also wondering what scheduele i should be using (i.e. lean, normal) if i want to stay skinny, and have a nice body. im assuming its lean. i dont want to look like a power lifter by the time i get in shape. (not that theres anything wrong with that )

thank you for your patience.

If you're careful not to push harder than your body is able to do then there's no reason it'll harm you. Just make sure you get enough food to support your growth.

The only modifications I'd recommend is, don't worry about keeping up with the number and intensity of reps in the videos. Use the weights you're able to and only do as many reps as you're able to in the time they give. Make sure you push yourself though every workout. When you're able to do more reps, increase the weight a little bit. Over time you'll build up strength and endurance and you'll eventually be able to match or even exceed the weight and reps they're doing (except in pull-ups, they're just insane there).

Good luck and don't hesitate to ask questions.

yeah its good more and more people wanna get in on p90x! starting young cant hurt! just dont lift more than you can handle....id say maybe start out with resistance bands rather than dumbbells, your muscles/body hasn't fully developed the strength in your arms/joints to support all that stress and might lead to injuries in the long run.

I'm 18, and i just started this week! BRING IT PPL

I am currently 14 years old 5' 9" and 120 lbs. I just started P90X this week and am wondering about the nutrition guide. I was just wondering if I really have to strictly follow the diet because I am slightly underweight. I eat very healthy and never eat any junk food. Any comments are appreciated! A usual day for me is...

Breakfast- 1 cup Oatmeal or eggs and a whole wheat english muffin and fruit.
Snack- Protein bar
Lunch- 2 slices whole wheat bread, a few slices of turkey and and apple
Snack- handfull of almonds or a yogurt
Dinner- Lean meat some carbs and a vegetable.

if you want to gain weight if you think your underweight inncrease your protein intake by a mile because your eating plan is too light for 120 lbs and trying to gain weight. But good job on eating healthy...

Re:Teenagers on P90x 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Im 16 years old, 5'5 170 lbs

My entire life i have always been pretty built, as it comes from my dad. Ive always been short, and stalky. I have really broad shoulders, and naturaly pretty strong uper body, but I recently quit playing competitive hockey to focus more on school, and in the past couple of years, ive started to notice my belly getting larger and larger, and since i stopped playing hockey, it started to grow faster, and i decided to put an end to this.

I am in week two of the Classic version of P90X... i have no time for making my lunch in the morning, so im doing my best just to eat as best as i can at school. (only water, no fries brugers etc. Just salads, wraps, and Subway. lol

Does anyone have any suggestions for me to help me better my diet regimen?

All help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm 18 and starting p90x in a few weeks-Need to finish some exams the a big night out before I cut off out the alcohol for 3 months!
I doubt I'll have trouble with the diet (I live by myself so, make my own food) however, the only problem is that I'm worried about excess noise- I live on the 2nd floor of student halls just now.

Yeah you will make a fair bit of noise in Plyometrics. All the others should be okay tho. Good luck with it and keep us posted.

I'm 17 and i'm loving this workout!
the diet i admit was a little not going my way, and it took me a while to get used to it, cause of all the junk i used to eat, but for sure, i am trying my hardest, i eat lot's of meats, and healthy foods!

and i have showed lots of progress in the past couple months!
i'm 6ft, and my weight before i started P90x was around 155, and it is about a little above 174 now! and i'm loving it :]]

Yeah, P90x is good for everyone, but the workout isn't the most important thing to get more toned or bigger, eating right is like half important, so yeah, you should follow the nutrition plan.
