Supplements 10 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I know the supplements help you to speed up your metabolism but I was wondering how important is it? Can I succeed in this program without the supplements? Are any of you not using the supplements and if not how are the results?

Thanks
Tasha

Hi Tasha,

I saw your comment in the Weight Loss Tools area, but this is a better place to talk anyway.

I personally think supplements are over rated if you are eating healthy and balanced diet.

What is your current eating habits like? Do you eat 3 meals a day with 2 small snacks? Give us an idea of your current regimen and the supplements question can be better answered from that.

I am eating 5xs daily. Its a little harder for me to do on the weekend because I get up later than I do during the week. I usually start eating about 6:45am and stop before 8pm. I also have been adding more fruits and veggies which is something I didn't do before.

Breakfast - oatmeal and fruit
Snack - granola bar
lunch - turkey sandwich on whole wheat and chips (I know they have no nutritional value, but they are the 100 calorie pack)
Snack - apples or some other fruit
dinner - lean meat, veggies

I drink mostly water throughout the day, every now and then I drink a little juice.

Thanks for the help!!

I've been drinking vitamin water (from glaceau). Is it helping me? I really don't know. I can tell you I do feel like I'm recovering better. I drink the "Revive" flavor after I do the Kempo work out.

I would consider a good multi-vitamin as it can't hurt but do you need all the extra supplements? I doubt it.

How is your energy and overall feelings? If positive then you are doing fine without it!

It is better to do natural routine instead of following something because this type of series/programs some times may give bad results....that's my thought.
Please avoid supplements.
It's up to you to take it seriously or not!

well i personally feel there shouldn't be any supplements used for getting a good body
main reason behind that it, there are many side effects of it

Dude,
If you're a beginner there is no need for any supplemment except perhaps whey and casein if you need more protein. Fish oil if you need some healthy fats.

If you've been going a while then you my want some creatine, glutamine or maybe a NO product.

Research is important too. look at what's in the product and not what the product claims to do.

But like everone else has said, first check your training, your form, your exercises, and your diet and when all that is right and you're needing a little more, then start looking at some supps.

I just dropped a boat load of cash buying a 60 day supply of the multi-vitamins and the recovery drink on P90X.com. I know a lot of people have said you can find the same stuff somewhere else but I want to eliminate any excuse I could possibly come up with...so I bit the bullet and bought their stuff. If I follow this thing EXACTLY like they say then either 1) I'll be cut and in good shape or 2) It's their fault.

Way back in highschool, I was all about having "natural" muscles, and worked out without taking supplements.

Now, 10 years later, I say screw that! Here is what I take:

-Protien Shake after workouts - Right now it is EAS Myoplex, which is expensive. I will probably buy the $20 tub of Whey Protien at Walmart next

-A very good Multi-Vitamin - Right now i'm taking "More Than A Multiple"

-Creatine Pills - Kre-Alkalyn - The only creatine I will take

-Endurox EXCEL - I took the original Endurox during Wrestling season in highschool, and am a firm believer that it increases endurance. They also claim it makes your body burn fat instead of carbs during a workout.

How about folks posting what supplements they use? I know products like protein powder & bars come in wide varieties of taste and effectiveness, so it would help to see what others are using as well as why they chose those specific supps.

ProLab banana is one of my favorites for whey powder but if I can't get it, I lean toward SportPharma. Mixing w/skim milk gives me about 30g protein per glass.

My struggle to find the best bar is still ongoing. I've tried many and so far my fave is the Snickers Marathon Energy chewy peanut. With 210 calories, 14g protein and 5g fiber, I'm fairly satisfied. Would like suggestions on what others find good tasting. Some of these taste like something rotten.

The harsh truth is that yes you can do the program without it but will you see the results that you should be seeing without them? no. You won't. Trust me, they are vital. Tony takes them, everyone on the info mercial takes them and it's why their results are crazy. Go check out my site http://p90xworkouts.blogspot.com/ and take the link to the Supplement and Equipment section. Hope this helps

tyd45, that bull man.

as for the best bar (powercrunch bar) hands down, the peanutbutter wafer is the BEST I would eat it over any candy bar just for the taste!

You guys should look in to s sup called, 5 TETRA, it's crazy!

my friend let me try it for ply, and all I can say, I could have done two rounds! It was amazing, it wasn't a stim, it just maid me feel like I was SUPER in shape or something, it's hard to put in to words. Check it out I liked it.
