P90x Question... 10 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 4
First time poster!

I didn't know if this was the place to post or not, so I apologize if it isn't the place, and a point in the right direction would be appreciated!

My fiance and I are planning on getting p90x and starting sometime in the next 2 weeks. I had a few questions that I haven't really been able to find GOOD answers for, so I was hoping that some of the users here might be able to shed some light onto it.

1. Whats the average amount of time you spend every day on workouts? Is it dependent on which day it is, or are all of the workouts similar length. Been trying to find this one for awhile, but even going to P90X and Beachbody websites, can't seem to find it.

2. P90x bands, other beachbody bands, or weights? We have a set of Slim In 6 resistance bands, so is it necessary to buy the p90x ones? Is it suggested to buy free weights? Necessary?

3. For the P90x pull-up bar, how bad is it to install? We currently live in an apartment, so drilling large holes into the wall can be difficult. Are the holes used for the two brackets small enough and/or not cause any permanent damage to the wall/doortrim?

That is all I can think of for the time being. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I will most likely post in the beginners section when we figure a date to start!

Thanks!

Your in the right place...peeps here are great for info, support and motivation.

If you commit to this P90X journey and maintain the course for the full 90 days you and you fiance will be looking and feeling great.

My biggest piece of advice is to follow the diet if you want see results...its the only way.

Answers to your questions:

1.Chest & Back - 0:52:50
Plyometrics - 0:58:36
Shoulders & Arms - 0:59:53
Yoga X - 1:32:24
Legs & Back - 0:58:56
Kenpo X - 0:58:46
X Stretch - 0:57:32
Core Synergistics - 0:57:27
Chest, Shoulders & Triceps - 0:55:44
Back & Biceps - 0:51:36
Cardio X - 0:43:18
Ab Ripper X - 0:16:07

2. Any resistance bands will work it just depends on the color. I have beachbody ones in green, blue and black which are 30, 40, 50 pounds but I never use them. Dumbbells are the way to go and I feel very necessary

3. If the door has trim around it the bar does not require any screws for install so hopefully no problem.

Good Luck

Thanks for the info!

The beachbody bands that we have are from when she did Slim in 6, so they are kind of a pink/peach? color. The only issue I have with weights is that my left arm is gimped from an accident. So it is considerably weaker than my right.

That is one of the things I am hoping to gain from this program as well, is getting my arms to be more equal, rather than having my right being able to do barbels of 40lbs, while my left can only do 15lbs.

Maybe have to tailor the weight lifting sessions to my left arm, so its getting the hardcore workout while my right one is just in it for the endurance. If I work them both at the same time, the right will get stronger and keep the strength gap between the two. I might have to talk to a trainer or physical therapist about fixing the strength gap.

Thanks again.

Have another question....

Do you generally complete the entire video starting out? or do you do as much as you can, and gradually work towards finishing the video each day.

I ordered P90X so it will be coming in about a week, and then I will probably take another week to get the workouts and nuitriion in order before I start day 1. I have been doing some of Tony Horton's "Power Half Hour" workouts and they are beatin the hell out of me. Can still completely finish them, and will keep doing it all the way up until I start P90X, but if the daily routines are like the Power Half Hour, I don't know if I would be able to do 59 minutes of it straight starting out.

I would make sure to complete the entire video starting out. If you have to modify, take more breaks, stop certain exercises early, then do it. Sometime I'll do my set and have another 30-45 seconds to rest since they're doing much more than me.

Don't worry about how much you can do, just make sure to bring your best to each workout and you'll do more and more, longer and longer.

The best thing about P90X is that it jumps muscles during one workout so you're never exhausting one set of muscles at a time.

The p90x pullup bar is a little on the expensive side. There are other alternatives that can work as well. I bought a $10 bar from Big 5 Sporting goods and it works fine.

Re:P90x Question... 9 Months, 4 Weeks ago Karma: 0
1. Someone already answered that question.

2. I use free weights just because I like using weights. You can use the bands if you want, as long as the bands are still making you work.

3. I just bought the iron gym version of the chin up bar. They're practically the same thing, and they cost 20 dollars less! Thats if exclude the shipping and handling. The iron gym chin up bar cost me $40 at sports authority, but you can find some as low as $25 on ebay!
