Nov. 2009 - 1st Workout Completed 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I completed Chest & Back today. I was trashed but also completed ABX.

Proud to put my first X on the spreadsheet! 89 more to go.

I did not review the DVD prior to the workout. I did review it in the Fitness Guide. I was surprised that Tony guides you through the workout nicely. It is not confusing. You are encouraged to pace yourself. He offers many good tips.

I think with the right attitude and desire you can complete this first workout and improve upon it.

I hit pause alot to complete the reps with good form.

I had "Perfect Push Up" stands lying around that were being used for paper weights. I used those instead of push up bridges. Tony shows you how to use a dumbbell also. Takes pressure off of your wrists.

I used a lat. pull down bar, on a Universal machine, until I can do some pull ups. This worked out fine. Tony shows you how to use the resistance bands instead of pull up bar too.

I would try and have your dumbells set up or ready to be adjusted. I suggest going lighter than you think you can do. Just to get a feel for things.

Plenty of time to add weight on round 2 or the next workout.

Have a chair or something to elevate your feet for Decline Pushups. Those were a real treat.

Have plenty of water ready. If you have a heart monitor, I would use it. If you get going to hard, you'll be gassed on the next exercise. I just hit pause and did "Huggers" until HR came down a touch.

Have your sheets and something to write with. Important to record your Reps & weight used.

The workout was great. Took me a couple of hours to recover, but I feel great now. At least I didn't need to call an ambulance, which I feared.

Good luck to all. Lets try & help one another.

I have completed my 3rd workout. I could not be happier!

The workouts are extremely hard for me. I push pause alot.

I follow Fat Shredder Level III & keep a food log. I am really watching the diet close. No cheats.

On 10/25/09 I got interested in P90X. I downloaded a PDF for the Fit Test. I messed around with it and took my weight. 291!!! I was shocked.

I started P90X on 11/1/09. After this mornings workout (I workout out @ 3:30 a.m.) I weighted in at 278!

I have along ways to go, but I am convienced in short order this is going to work.

Have a good workout today!

Re:Nov. 2009 - 1st Workout Completed 4 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
I have been trying lifestyle changes. Simple things like parking way out in the parking lot. Like parking next to the security guard at WalMart, parked in the south 40 in his Hugo or golf cart with the yellow flashing light on top. It freaks them out when you park right next to them & walk to the store. I guarentee you they will be gone when you return.

I take the stairs at the courthouse. Today I made 6 floors without breaking a sweat, was not leaning on the railing & could talk immedaitely at the top. I was stressing out at 3rd fl. a couple of weeks ago.

Does P90X work? I do not believe in "pixie dust". X is working for me!

Plyo kicked my *ss today. I hung tough until the last 15-20 minutes. Bam! I was gassed. I noted my HR was in the 160 area most of the wkout. I need to pace myself more. My resting HR is 70. I am told simply doubling your resting HR (140 for me)will make your heart stronger. My High End Training HR is 170-171.

The heart monitor really does help. I really suggest one when you can squeeze it into your budget. Make a very nice holiday gift.

Consistant, focused workouts. I like.

Re:Nov. 2009 - 1st Workout Completed 4 Months ago Karma: 0
Today is YogaX. Looking for improvment here today. Did not get yoga blocks yet. I will pay for that today.

Yesterday sucked. I was dreading Shoulders & Arms, ARX. Unk. why as this is one of my favs.

Just in a funk. Waited until late last nigh to do it. Plyo kicked my butt the day before. Shins and calves real sore, along with eveything else.

Still stressing on nutrition. I feel it is wasted energy, because I am following the meal plans to a tee. I consume to many soy nuts, so I am reeling that in. Writing everything down. Worrying about protein + carbs eatten together, enough protein? To much dairy, not enough veg's., this & that. Blah blah.

I am going to follow the meal plans & keep hitting play. Screw everyhing else I have read, heard & watched.

I took in a 8 oz. 1% choc. milk & whey protein shake. Mid day. I felt much better. I think the funk may be due lack of carbs. I know this lack of carbs is crital in the Phase to lose weight. Drinking 12-30 beers a day, screwed up my system bad. It craves carbs.

Looking forward to YogaX. One good thing is my spirt remains strong to finish these 90 days.

Pretty scarey when your almost out of numbers on the scale. I refused to go to the local slaughter house and hang from a meat hook to weigh in.

Thanks for the kind support. Appreaciated.

I am new at this. But, I have done just about everything with diets & fandangled workouts over the years.

This is the real deal!

For big kids like us, you got to pace yourself. Don't be afraid to hit pause. Its not like calling 911, the police will not show up. Last tone the weight down on the bar a touch. Or, you'll be gassed before halftime.

I am very motived to strip this fat off, just to be able to perform better during the workouts.

Re:Nov. 2009 - 1st Workout Completed 4 Months ago Karma: 0
Hard to beleive last day of Week 2 already here. KenpoX today.

Some purist feel a rest day should be just that. I cannot argue with that at all. But, everyone's situation is differnt. My fenders have a few more bents than most & needs more work, so I am going to leave them in the body shop an extra day.

I decided not to do both YogaX & Stretch X on Sat. (my rest day). I am going to choose one and do it properly early in the day. Then enjoy the rest of the day.

This is kids play but it may work for some. The night before I retire, I write the next days workout on a piece of papar, in bold letters & hang it on the frige. Today I have "FRI. KENPOX". As soon as the workout is compeleted I rip that note off of the fridge and tear it up.

That note will be there looking at you all day if you drag your butt & make excuses not to do the workout.

Feels great to rip that note up and start the blender for a recovery drink.

Keep getting up off of the floor!

Re:Nov. 2009 - 1st Workout Completed 4 Months ago Karma: 0
Hard to believe Week #2 is completed and Week #3 starts in the morning.

I picked up 5 doz. eggs this morning on sale. 10 eggs whites adds up quick. Nice.

Hit a local vitamin shop also, loaded up on more supplements. I think I have it dialed in right now. One less thing to worry about.

Hope everyone that started in Nov. 2009 is doing well and staying healthy.

Yesterday during KenpoX I was grabbing the toe and doing the side stretch. I felt a terrible pain in my left hamstring. I thought I may have torn it. It was just a cramp. Remember to take your time so you do not injure yourself. It would be terrible to stall out during the 1st 90 days. We all want to finish.

By the way whomever turned me into the Moderator(s) complaining. Thank you. I had no idea I was breaking any rules. I just wish you would have had the balls to address me directly.

Best of workouts to all.

Day 15 of 90.

I was really surprised at the improvment in form today. More reps & heavier weights. Most important I kept up with the pace.

Off the Lat Pulldown Bar. I did the Pull Ups with one leg/toes on chair.

ABR X is a beast. I took some good advise from the board. I take a 15 minute break. Towel off, wash my face. Hit ABR X. That break is a life saver!

Starting out with a gut almost as big as your chest, makes ABR X very tough.

Day 16: Plyo today.

Looking forward to weighing in. I am waiting until day 30.

Sitting here starring at the digital scale with no battery(took out, so I would not cheat), like a crack addict waiting in an alley for a fix.

I decided to apply the cold, truthful, surface of the tape measure to my shrinking beer belly.

A casual measurement. No tugging on tape or sucking in. -2 1/2 inches measured at the belly button. I have no idea what that equates to in lbs. but, it has got to be good. Pants are starting to fall down. I see why now.

Convinced P90X is working.

Keep focus and stay consistent!

Plyo. is just a barn burner!. Hitting pause less. Feeling much better while doing it.

G. Hero & Hot Foot get me good.

What a calorie burner. I really look forward to the recovery Drink after it is all over. NO Plyo. next week! Nice.

Day 17 today & feeling great! Shoulder-Arms-ABR-X today. I like this workout.

Re:Nov. 2009 - 1st Workout Completed 3 Months, 4 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Felt like crap on Tue. In court all day. People coughing & sneezing all over the place. Got home late & kit. sink is plugged up. Kit. waste backed up into the bathroom. Plunger will not budge it. Neat.

Around 8:00 p.m. still no workout in. Still waiting for the plumber who has been on his way for 2 hours. Hopes of completing wkout. fading fast. This is an important week. Next week is recovery week, so I want to finish strong this week.

I need a plan. I used the flexibility of P90X. I decided to get a good night sleep. Get up early knockout Sholders-Arms ABR-x. Then do YogaX later in the day/evening.

I took (3) ZMA Tech caps. Slept like a baby. Got up this morning @ 3:30 a.m. & nailed the workout.

Having flexibilty is really nice with this program. YogaX tonight. The time space gives me plenty of time to recover, so I'll be strong for YogaX later today. 6-8 hrs. +.

Hoping for a better day today. It has already started out better!

Hard to believe today will be the end of week 3 for me. Today KenpoX. Sat. is a rest day. I will do stretch routine to get ready for Recovery Week.

I will stay strict on the diet this week. I broke down & had (4) Miller Lites this week. They were Great!

Enjoying all the workouts much more. Still hitting pause on some around the 40 min. mark, to take a break. Trying to finish strong. I sure look forward to the "cool down"!

I have been putting the next days workout in the player, as soon as I finish the current DVD. That way I only need to hit play to jump right in & get started. Nice tip from this board.

Looking forward to weigh in on the 30th.

X Stretch is in the books for today, Sat. Going to use the rest of the day for prescribed rest.

Todays X Stretch was intersting. I really tried working on the breathing aspect. I found even in some of the difficult stretches, I was relaxed & starting to enjoy it. Weird, as it hurts so good. Even got a pop or two that I was not expecting (lower back).

Sun. starts Recovery Week. Will continue with same supplements & protein levels. Lots of water. Watching all carb,. intake.

Enjoyed Core Synergistics. If you are into sports this has got to help you, along with Plyo! Wish I would of had these workouts 20 years ago.

Looking forward to going out & hitting a golf ball. I was driving the ball 280-300 yards straight consistently. Looking forward to see if I can add to my drive yardage after my first 30 days of P90X.

I know I have been doing the workouts, as my DVD folder has fallen apart. Not from throwing it across the livingroom either.

I read a suggestion on the board to put the DVD's in jewel cases & that is what I have done.

Best to all. Keep focused & consistent!

This is crazy but I am craving getting back to lifting weights.

I know this recovery period is imporant. I think there may be some built in motivation to look forward to getting started with Phase 2.

I just finished a popular kickboxing video that I use to struggle with. I just did the basic, to see where I was at. This was all the rage a couple of years ago.

Unbelievable! It was childs play. I worked up a sweat & that was about it. I was very aware of good form, square hips, relaxed, good breathing etc.

I was simply amazed. P90X really is working!

Take care.

Re:Nov. 2009 - 1st Workout Completed 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 6
Dude, I have to say...you are a great motivation for me. I am finishing up Phase 2 this week and have been in a bit of a funk the last few days. I haven't been looking forward to the workouts until I actualy start them. I used to look forward to working out when I got home after work. Lately I have been putting them off. I feel a lot more motivated to start earlier now. So thank you.

I just read your posts/blog and I have to say, you are kicking butt!!

I love your quote, "Keep getting up off of the floor!" That is so true sometimes.

You mentioned your body is/was used to carbs. How did that end up for you? I used to be a HUGE coke/soda drinker and junk food eater. The first two weeks were pretty miserable (nutrition/craving wise.) Did it get better for you?

I had been working out on and off for years, until I started P90X. I cleaned up my diet and THEN I started getting the results I was looking for.

Recovery week is interesting isn't it? It feels like you aren't working as hard, but then you're sore all over. Strange feeling. Wait until week 5 when you do Chest, Shoulders & Triceps and Back & Biceps. They will kick your butt. It feels great. You're body repairs itself during recovery week, then you get sore just like you did in week 1. It's like starting over, but you still have your results from phase 1.

I am very interested in seeing your day 30 pics and weight. Keep us posted, you are doing great!!

Day 26. Just finished a great KenpoX workout. Kept my HR up to 140+ the entire time. HR of 170 is my max. Noticed it dropped pretty quick while taking water breaks.

Enjoying a recovery drink with a teaspoon of L-Glutamine added in for faster recovery/repair.

Just realized I have not had any red meat in 26 days. That is amazing, I have not missed it or craved it. On all my other diet attempts (Atkins, S. Beach, Sugar Busters, Zone, T-Factor, etc., etc.) I was always craving a Triple Whopper & king size fries!

Hope everyone enjoys the Thanksgiving Holiday. Take some time to call a family member or friend, bend a broken bridge, give someone a compliment, deliver meals to the needy, donate some money, shake someone's hand. It will do your heart good and you'll be a better person for it.

Happy Thanksgiving!
