I recommend that you just keep going...even if you find yourself doing a lot of modifications. The first week is hell, but once you get through the first week of yoga it starts to get better. Note...I didn't say it gets any easier. I am in week 5 and it is very, very challenging...but today I made it through plyo with only one extra pause. Small victory for me.
Second thing I have noticed is that the diet is equally as important. I have made great gains in strength and overall fitness...but still need to slim down a bit. My wife is in week 1 and doing great!!! JB |

I think a lot depends on your current fitness level. It seems to me like going from zero exercise to P90x is a recipe for failure.
Personally, I opted to do Power 90 before I started in on P90x and I'm glad I did. At the time, I hadn't exercised in years and I was at least 30 lbs above my ideal weight. Initially, I had tried to start out with P90x, but I found it discouraging to be that far behind. I bit the bullet and ordered Power 90. You do 2 alternating routines, one for cardio and one for sculpting. The workouts last about 30 minutes and you do them six days a week, just like P90x. I had a greater sense of satisfaction to be able to keep up with the exercises on the DVDs and that motivated me to do more. I started running every other day on top of the Power 90 workouts and after a little less than 3 months, I was 17 pounds lighter and in much better shape to begin P90x which I'm doing right now. Transitioning from Power 90 to P90x was very smooth for me and I believe it increased my chance of success with P90x significantly. |

It seems to me like going from zero exercise to P90x is a recipe for failure. this all depends on how determined you are. when i started P90X last year, i had stopped working out (and doing anything active for that matter) for over a year, maybe 1.5 years. i was way out of shape and probably 40 pounds heavier than i should be. yet, i was determined. it was hard as HELL to get things kickstarted, but its not impossible. so if you were able to work through it, i say stick with it. you'll get to a pretty decent level of fitness after you're done. and then guess what? start all over and get ripped! =) |

I agree with you here. I was an avid gym goer, only running about 3 miles a week and walking the same, lifting a little bi's tri's ham's...but my mind and soul were not in in. I struggled the first week for sure, learning the program, but some week 2 I already saw improvements and gosh...now I'm hard core just past week 11 kickin some bootay! So if you have mindset and determination you can go from zero to hero, just take your time and pace yourself!
