p90x nutrition plan questions?? 12 months ago #79312
|
i just ordered the p90x and cant wait to get it. i searched up everything and know alot about the program. i am very anxious to get it. I am 13, weigh 208 and am 5 foot 6. the nutrition plan seems very hard but i am ok with it. the only problem is there are alot of ingredients and i dont want my parents to have to buy all of it. i wuz wondering if there is another system or anything you went by that is equally equivelent to the nutrition plan but at a lower cost. OR if i can just cook the regular meal and forget all the spice and stuff. also i want to know what preworkout drink and after workout drink you use. i need to get some and the p90x brand is to expensive because i already spent like 120 bucks on supplements alone and still have to buy yoga mat, resistance bands and a couple other things. Lastly, what vitamins do u use on the program. srry about all the questions i just want to know what to expect.
PS:: do fat burners work, which ones |

I'm not a P90X expert or anything, (I just started this last saturday), but I've also read a ton about the program. First things first though, I would caution you against taking too many supplements (especially fat burners) if you're only 13 years old.
Instead of following the meal plan, there is also the portion plan where you eat a certain amount of servings of each food group (what, when, and how you combine them is up to you). I think the most important thing is to try and get the right amount of calories and the right ratios of fat/carbs/protein. I'm doing kind of a modified version of the portion plan, where I weigh and measure everything I'm eating and enter the numbers into a spreadsheet I made that calculates the total calories and the ratio percentages (although there are also free websites that do this as well). So you don't necessarily need to follow the recipes provided, you just need to track what and how much you are putting into your body. Personally I don't use any vitamins or supplements with the program (other than whey protein powder), and there are quite a few people here who have gotten great results without them. For a recovery drink I usually just drink a 300 ML glass of 100% grape juice with a little protein powder. Again, at 13, you don't really need to be taking supplements that have things like creatine added to them (like the P90X recovery drink does, even if it is a minimal amount). I don't want to sound too preachy on that point, but it is kind of important. |

There are lots of people on this forum that don't use the nutrition plan that comes with the DVDs and still get amazing results. You'll need to calculate how many calories you need (try www.teambeachbody.com/eat-smart/nutrition-tools/caloric-needs ) and then eat that many calories using the right ratio for whichever phase you are in (50% protein/30% carbohydrates/20% fat, etc.). Figuring out those ratios is really easy if you track what you eat using MyPlate ( www.livestrong.com/myplate/ ). The only supplement that I use is protein powder (cheap protein on www.puritan.com/ ). I don't recommend anything else. "Fat burners" don't work. Exercise and eating right are your fat burners. There are no cheats when it comes to getting in shape. It's commitment to hard work that is going to get you where you want to be.
Because you're 13 and still growing, make sure you're eating enough! Good luck! |
