My P90X Journal 9 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 2
Hello All

this my second stab at P90x the first time last June i was sluggishly able to keep up with the routines for 3 weeks then I stopped for mixed reasons.
last November i joined a Gym to support my Wife, and got hooked. I was trying to find ways to incorporate the p90x routines in my daily workouts, but didn't want to edit the videos in order to extract each move (I misjudged the task and started doing it, and decided against it as i kept telling myself they are 12 hour long videos)
But all that was fixed when i got me a video converter for the my Zune to convert some dvds for when we travel and it hit me,I should try P90X at the Gym given that i'm there everyday anyway.

so i started with the Ab ripper video (nice and short) and took it to the gym for testing I was able to keep up and I liked it, did the rest of the videos, and i'm now on my 2nd day of week 4

That is a great idea to put your p90x on a Zune. Good Job Les. Keep up the energy and let us and all those who find your post know how it goes!

Thanks

I felt the synergy alright, this is not Plyo but still very demanding.
I came out alive can't wait til next wednesday and do it all over again

One note about having P90x on my Ipod is when i'm in a middle of a move/routine it's hard to stop and check the variation he's describing for beginners. which would have been nice today given that it was my first time doing Core Syn.

I finally did the entire Kenpo workout.
Due to time restrain and the fact that i prefer to workout in the mornings sometimes I have to cut my workout short in order to get on the road. but I did it all today and felt pretty psyched about it.

I blew my 2nd day in the row by showing up to the gym without my Ipod. I showed up for Yoga and I tried to do it from memories, I did the basic moves but i couldn't get motivated with tony's voice. so I'll try again this evening.

Try doing your Yoga before you go to bed at night. House quiet, everyone else in bed, and it will be a totally different experience, and you will sleep like a baby, a "happy baby" in fact.

Re:My P90X Journal 9 Months ago Karma: 2
after 3 days off i started week five yesterday, and it was painful to start a new routine (Chest shoulder Triceps), i woke up this morning with my tris on fire. that was short lived because i had to go in for some Plyometrics and disburse that pain throughout my body. it was almost a relieve to go to some exercises I'm familiar with. almost because the intensity brought me back to earth.
Earth to Lester "this is Plyo keep you HR up up up" in other words Bring It!
it's good to be back.

Darn! I lost yesterday's entry.

oh well I'll make this a 2 days entry.

Day 3: That was Monday 3/3 I did Back Biceps.
I found out that I still suck at wide fly pull ups and Switch grip pull up, I don't use a chair instead i do maximum reps and rest and another set of max reps usually less than 5. My reverse pull ups have improved, as for the new pull ups routines I will need to work on them.

Day 4 today: Yoga X
I couldn't do it. after yesterday's biceps workout I woke up with my shoulders, biceps and forearms in a nice pain. I literally couldn't hold my body with my arms, after 10mn of trying. i talked myself out of Yoga. and instead ran for a mile and 1/2

Les,

You lost previous entry? Did you put it in but the forum didn't keep it or what? Just curious if we have any board issues.

As for your work out - keep it up! the pain won't be bad after a week or so.

You've got me beat, bro. I can't do two pull-ups without assistance. I use my legs to help me up and then I try to slowly let myself down. I read somewhere (maybe here) that slowly letting down is good to do for starters if you can't do many. I'd love to be able to do 5.

Correction or clarification.

I do the hard pull-ups i mentioned above in 2 takes. first i do maximum rep usually around 7-10 then I do another take usually about 5, so depending on my state of tiredness I can get up to 15.
My objective is trying to get at least 12 reps the first take.

Re:My P90X Journal 9 Months ago Karma: 2
I met the X in P90X today.

Today was a nice return to familiarity. I did Legs & Back and Ab Ripper X. There might something psychological about this but, I always dread the Yoga workout as a result I'm always enthused about the following day's workout i.e. Legs & Back. I pushed myself so hard that 30mn after my workout this morning I was still feeling dizzy, and after my Protein Shake I got a little sick.

I must say I did fairly well in my Wide Flys pull ups, except for the second set of Wide Fly Pull-up i couldn't Pull myself up and decided to use the Lat Pull down on the machine.

tip of the Day Pace yourself

Re:My P90X Journal 8 Months, 4 Weeks ago Karma: 2
I survived week 1 of phase 2,
Today i woke up and without any remorse I decided to make day 7 a resting day instead of stretching or running.
yesterday i did my Kenpo (I'm started to feel like I can get in the ring with my jab cross hook uppercut)

Tomorrow: Chest Shoulders and Triceps.

Did changing phases throw your body off at all this past week? Did you get sore or feel like you were working different muscles?

yes my body got thrown off.
I think the change of Phase and the week or recovery work as advertised. Muscle confusion soreness and everything in between.

the recovery week was like an intense cardio week for me. so when i started Phase 2 with Chest Shoulders and Triceps I really felt it.
I definitely felt different muscles because of different routines.

When I look at my worksheet i can't help but wanting to go for the bigger weights, do more push ups, attempt more pull ups, so that also plays a role on my overall soreness.

Even if it's only psychological resting yesterday was good because, I'm getting ready to go the gym and the only soreness i feel is in my gluteus maximus.
In other words I'm ready for Week 6
