*C-H-U-B's Phase 2 Doubles Log* 5 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I am so excited to start phase 2 TOMORROW that I figured I would get my log going today!

I will be doing doubles (again)...but I will be doing P90X in the AM and cardio at my gym in the PM. I do better in the AM and really want to bring it to my P90X work outs...

M- C/S/T dvd and ab ripper PM- 40 min cardio*
T- Plyo dvd
W- B/Bi and ab ripper dvd PM- 40 min cardio
Th- Yoga
F- B/Legs and ab ripper dvd PM- 40 min cardio
S- Kenpo
Sun- rest or stretch x

*May do core syn for a PM cardio...I LOVE THAT WORK OUT and it's only in my recovery week

Tips that have helped me over the last 30 days
1. Keep a food journal (I have an example of how I do it in my phase 1 log)
2. Post on here. Everyone is great and supportive. Keeps ya' honest!
3. Drink plenty of water (I have 64-96 oz a day)
4. Mult-vit
5. Good quality whey protein
6. Recovery drink. I make my own and think it helps with the soreness. NO CREATINE this time. Thanks for the advice everyone.
7. Adding BCAA and L-glutamine to your post-work out shake.
8. Log you workouts (reps/weights). I typed and printed out the work outs. Then I three hole punch them and put them in a folder. I have a record of everything. I have included my phase 2 here and you can find phase 1 in my first log.

Foods I love...
1. Stevia. An all-natural calorie-free liquid sweetner
2. Psyllium husk. An all-natural fiber. I add it to oatmeal and other things.
3. Oroweat 100% whole wheat light bread. 2 slices are only 80cal, 18g carbs, and 7g of fiber.
4. Hummus. I put it on bread instead of mayo. AWESOME!
5. I'm a vegetarian so anything by Amy's or Quorn. Taste great!

Best of luck everyone! Can't wait until tomorrow!

DAY 1 of PHASE 2 Doubles: Chest/Shoulders/Tri and AB ripper

Well holy sh*t! I never knew you could have such variety of push ups! This was a KILLER! Never knew a paper plate could cause so much pain...ha ha ha But it's great to be back into the full swing of things. I do so much better with structure.

My recovery week went pretty well, but I tended to be a little less strict with my eating which wasn't a good idea. So I'm glad to be back on the harder cycle where I know I will really stick with everything. Will be hitting up the gym later for the "doubles" part. Plan to ride my bike to the gym and do about 40 min of cardio. Probably the elliptical or something.

Back on track with the eating today! Hope everyone Monday is going well!

You've got me curious about the paper plate now, I will have to watch the phase 2 videos this week before I start the next phase. It's good to hear things are going well.

DAY 2 DOUBLES: PLYO
It was good to do Plyo again, since that wasn't apart of my recovery week. However, my chest is SORE (in a good way) from the c/s/t dvd yesterday. Excited to try back and bi tomorrow. Hope all had a good day/night!

Phase 2: Day 3 Back and Bi DOUBLES
Today was the first time I did the back and bi dvd. I really liked it! The pull ups were crazy and I still stink at them, but I'm still trying so that is all that matters. I continued doing what I did in phase one...pause the dvd and use the chair for the pull ups...unpause and while Tony and the crew do pull ups I do the tension band too. I like that approach since I am still using the chair for a lot of the pull ups. Try to hang up there and do a slow negative, but still not so good.

I tried to switch it up today. I found some Tae bo tapes I had over the weekend and they have an "ab bootcamp" one. So I put this in instead of ab ripper. BOOOO! I really didn't like it at all. Plus, I felt like I was cheating on Tony. ha ha ha!

Hit the gym after work for my cardio and do some abs there to make up for the crappy tape.

DOES ANYONE have an ab dvd they really like? Just to switch it up!

THANKS!!!!!

PHASE 2: Day 4 YOGA

It's crazy for some reason Yoga is my least favorite...which doesn't make sense b/c I actually really like Yoga and often take it with friends. I think I just really like taking the real class and not doing the dvd. So I only did half the dvd. I am going to look into maybe just taking a class instead of the dvd. I felt guilty about stopping so I came home and did Core Syn! Man I love that dvd!!!!

PHASE 2: Day 5 Leg and back AB ripper

So I switched it up today and did my cardio in the AM. Just finished up Legs/back/ab ripper. Had a crazy schedule today at work. It was nice to get back to legs and back since I have seen it before in Phase 1. Since it is a repeat I decided to throw in some extras to change it up and BRING IT. I've added the following and will be doing them every time I do legs and back...
*** Hamstring curls with stability ball. I LOVE THIS exercise! I also wanted to add some hamstring stuff since a lot of the dvd is compound movements (meaning they use more than one ms group) such as lunges and squats. These exercises focus more on the quads, so I threw in some other stuff.
***Deadlifts with dumbbells. Also works low back.
***Abduction and adduction with ankle weights. Gotta work on those thighs!

I am still doing my usual method of pull ups with chair followed by the tension band to really get the burn. Abs went well. I'm beat!

Hope everyone has a great weekend

Day 8 Phase 2 DOUBLES: Chest/Shoulder/Tri
Some of these push ups are still killing me, but I managed to do more than last time! Felt good.

Hit the gym for my doubles...did some elliptical and ran for a lil bit. Eating went well today.

Eating was a lil up and down over the weekend...had a run in with tequila and lost! Ha ha ha! Did have some pizza BUT made sure it was thin crust, no cheese, and veggie toppings. So I'm trying!

Looks like you're doing really good! As for your question for ab workouts, you can try and check out iwantsixpackabs.com, they have quite a few ab routines that you can try. All those videos are free. I've done about half of the ab routines in there and they're pretty good. If you do the advanced versions they are pretty intense, just as much if not more than the ab ripper. Give it a try if you're bored with ab ripper I guess.

I've done half of the iwantsixpackabs routine a few months ago, but then stuff got in the way and I stopped working out. I now started the P90X program and am in my 2nd week. My plan is to finish P90X (by beggining September) and then do the complete iwantsixpackabs routine which is 16 weeks, so be done with that by X-mas. In the winter I'll have less time on my hands, but I'll try and do P90X again come January if I feel motivated enough, but by then I might have found a new routine. I like switching it up. But that's a long way gone, I hope I can stay motivated enough just to finish P90X first

Cheers! and hope this helped!

Re:*C-H-U-B's Phase 2 Doubles Log* 5 Months ago Karma: 0
So I think I've lost my mind! But I'm changing up the routine for the rest of my phase 2. I am going on vacation for a few days on the 29th, which works out almost perfect since it leads into my "recovery" week. I know there is already a gym where I am going. I'm not worried about wokring out...I will just do cardio for my recovery week...I always work out on vacation. That is actually why I started this prg b/c I work out all the time and still look bloated So the work out part has never been an issue. I am SCARED about my diet and will really have to try my best to stay on track! But I'm super focused and want to stay that way. Okay so onto the changes...

I am already doing doubles, but for the next two weeks I will be doing doubles every day instead of M, W, F. I also am adding in the arm dvd from phase 1 b/c my arms need to tone up. So this week is...

M- C/S/T PM cardio
T- Plyo PM cardio
W- B/Bi PM cardio
TH- Yoga PM core syn
F- L/back PM cardio
S- Kenpo and PM Arm and shoulder dvd (from phase 1)

Next week I have to switch some stuff around b/c I leave on Sat morning the 29th (early)...and you shouldn't lift the same ms group two days in a row. Yoga will be switched out...

M- Bi/Back PM cardio
T- Plyo PM cardio
W- c/s/t PM cardio
Th- legs/back PM cardio
F- Kenpo and PM arm and shoulder dvd (from phase 1)
SATURDAY VACATION until WED and this would be my recovery week, so I will be doing cardio, yoga, and abs. I will resume the P90x recovery week when I come back on Thur (July 3). My phase 3 starts July 7th.

So obviously my journal entries will be a lil different. I know I'm crazy, but I can do it. I have no doubt. I have been working out 5-6 days a week for years and I look forward to the challenge! Plus, I really want to hit it hard before vacation. I will be pool side and want to look my best

DAY 9 DOUBLES: BACK and BI
Man those crazy pull ups still get me! But I am trying my best. Was able to do some more weight or reps with my arms, so happy about that. Only did half of ab ripper b/c I was dying of hunger! But will do some abs tonight at the gym when I do my PM cardio.

I can't believe that you are doing the doubles. I considered it until I looked at the sched. There is no way I would be able to get through it all. I barely get through the days I have the Ab Ripper added on to my sched. You will be able to hold your head up high with this plan when you are done.
