Week 8, Day 3 (Day 52) - Intreval X +!!! 4 Months ago Karma: 0
Oh man! Wow! I can totally see why P90X+ is what it is now... As anyone who reads my log can see, I am not a fan of Kenpo X... I am to the point now where I do not think I'll ever do it again... It's lame and not worth it. I would be shocked to see me burn more than 300 calories in 45 minutes of Kenpo X... compared to the 600+ calories of all of the other exercises, I've decided to replace it.

I wanted to try something new, so I decided to pop in Intreval X Plus from the P90X+ program and wow! In P90X+ this workout comes on the same day as Plyo in P90X (Day 2), and while it's not as high impact as Plyo, it is incredible! I feel like I burned 1000 calories (I really need to get a heart rate monitor)!!! It was VERY tough, and I struggled to keep up. You do like 10 different workouts at 3 intensities, then do them again in reverse order. You start off doing an easy version for 20 seconds, then a medium version, then an absolutely insane version for the last 20 seconds. There is 1 break in the middle, and it's litterally one move right after the next! Nuts right? Anyway... I love it and I think I'll add it into my routine from here on out, maybe trading every other week on Day 6 with Kenpo/Cardio Plus.

My nutrition was low, but ok in my book.

Calories: 1685
Fat: 59g
Carbs: 169g
Protein: 127g

Obviously I need to get a little more protein today to make up for it, so I added a grilled chicken breast to my lunch today after my workout (X Stretch). Speaking of workout, I got approval from my manager to take longer lunches as long as I come in earlier to make up the time, so I'm going to start doing that and working out at the gym next door to my work and listening to P90X on my Ipod. Should be a great time!

I am not a fan of Kenpo either. I've been replacing it with Cardio X.

cool. that's a good idea. I have recently been searching for something more exilerating I guess you could say... hence my variety of different programs including Kenpo/Cardio Plus, Interval Plus, TH 1 on 1 Super Cardio, etc. Hell, even doing something like playing basketball or running could be a better alternative to Kenpo X... lol

Yep I think so too. It's kind of a fun workout, but I just don't get much out of it either.

P90X Day 80 - Yoga X (Flip Flopped) 2 Months, 4 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Day 80 - Yoga X: http://austinp90xperiment.blogspot.com/2009/12/p90x-day-80-yoga-xbasketball.html

I got called off of my second job yesterday because they said it would be too slow to need so many servers on the floor. With the extra time, I decided to head to the gym after work & get in some pickup games of basketball, of which I hadn't played really at all since I started P90X. I was both excited and nervous about it, because I am obviously in much better shape now, but being away from the game for so long, I knew I'd be rusty. It turned out better than I expected!

When I got to the gym, I started shooting some mid-range jumpers from about 10-20 feet out and I was hitting them. I was actually very surprised! I don't usually hit them all that well in general. During the pickup games, I had a good feel for how the game was being played, and it was a great change of pace playing with people who actually pass the ball instead of ball hogging. I guess I would say I was our small forward in the game? I did a great job of moving without the ball, drawing my man out and then cutting to the basket for easy lay ups. Defensively, I was much better than I ever have been! In the first game, I held my man scoreless the entire game and we won with relative easy 15-9 by 1's & 2's. The second game, I held my man to just 2 baskets, and he took 4 or 5 shots. I had a few nice strips too with help defense on people driving, one of which ended up going off the dude's leg & out of bounds, causing a turnover. We lost the second game 15-14, after blowing a 14-12 lead. Our point guard decided to take over instead of moving the ball, like we did so effectively in prior possessions, and resulted in 3 or 4 blown possessions, the last of which ended up in a turnover to a fast break for the team's final point. Still, it was very fun!

Afterwards, I went into one of my gym's private rooms, and did Yoga X. I did Yoga X because I am working out with my friend, Grant today. I didn't want to do Yoga with him, so I switched Back & Biceps & Yoga X. I'm gonna switch Leg's & Back & Cardio as well too so I don't do back to back workouts (literally!).

It was very tough, but the moves are coming much easier than they did in week 1, or even in week 8! I've come a long way, especially with the warrior 3 moves... I still tumble and fall, but I'm able to hold the poses almost the entire time before I do. Doing it without the video really shortens the time, and I still feel like I get a great workout when I'm done. I don't know what it is about Yoga, but there's just a very refreshing feeling when you're finished, walking to the drinking fountain, soaking wet with sweat from head to toe, your hair looking like you just got out of the shower, but all of this is with a smile on your face. Anyone who's done P90X will know what I'm talking about!

My nutrition was good off the bat, but it didn't end like how I'd planned, with a grilled chicken salad. It instead ended with 2 Turkey Dogs and a bowl of cereal, plus I skipped out on my protein drinks because I just simply forgot.
