Day 80 - Yoga X:

I got called off of my second job yesterday because they said it would be too slow to need so many servers on the floor. With the extra time, I decided to head to the gym after work & get in some pickup games of basketball, of which I hadn't played really at all since I started P90X. I was both excited and nervous about it, because I am obviously in much better shape now, but being away from the game for so long, I knew I'd be rusty. It turned out better than I expected!
When I got to the gym, I started shooting some mid-range jumpers from about 10-20 feet out and I was hitting them. I was actually very surprised! I don't usually hit them all that well in general. During the pickup games, I had a good feel for how the game was being played, and it was a great change of pace playing with people who actually pass the ball instead of ball hogging. I guess I would say I was our small forward in the game? I did a great job of moving without the ball, drawing my man out and then cutting to the basket for easy lay ups. Defensively, I was much better than I ever have been! In the first game, I held my man scoreless the entire game and we won with relative easy 15-9 by 1's & 2's. The second game, I held my man to just 2 baskets, and he took 4 or 5 shots. I had a few nice strips too with help defense on people driving, one of which ended up going off the dude's leg & out of bounds, causing a turnover. We lost the second game 15-14, after blowing a 14-12 lead. Our point guard decided to take over instead of moving the ball, like we did so effectively in prior possessions, and resulted in 3 or 4 blown possessions, the last of which ended up in a turnover to a fast break for the team's final point. Still, it was very fun!
Afterwards, I went into one of my gym's private rooms, and did Yoga X. I did Yoga X because I am working out with my friend, Grant today. I didn't want to do Yoga with him, so I switched Back & Biceps & Yoga X. I'm gonna switch Leg's & Back & Cardio as well too so I don't do back to back workouts (literally!).
It was very tough, but the moves are coming much easier than they did in week 1, or even in week 8! I've come a long way, especially with the warrior 3 moves... I still tumble and fall, but I'm able to hold the poses almost the entire time before I do. Doing it without the video really shortens the time, and I still feel like I get a great workout when I'm done. I don't know what it is about Yoga, but there's just a very refreshing feeling when you're finished, walking to the drinking fountain, soaking wet with sweat from head to toe, your hair looking like you just got out of the shower, but all of this is with a smile on your face. Anyone who's done P90X will know what I'm talking about!
My nutrition was good off the bat, but it didn't end like how I'd planned, with a grilled chicken salad. It instead ended with 2 Turkey Dogs and a bowl of cereal, plus I skipped out on my protein drinks because I just simply forgot.
