Update on angelius 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago

I wanted to drop you all a line and let you know that I have not forgotten you. Here is an update:
About 2 weeks ago, my low back went out and I was unable to do any of my exercises for about 1 week. What sucks is that I gained 4 pounds in that week but prior to that, had not lost any. My measurements also have not changed from day 1. I am continuing to follow the diet and program in a vain hope that maybe something will change but at this time I really don't see it happening.
Most all of the things I have read by others indicate results within the first month. Here I am at month 2 approaching month 3, (only 1 week behind) and I have not only failed miserably at loosing any weight but when I had to stop for my back, actually gained 4 pounds and this even though I have been very diligent with the diet (approx 98%) and doing the exercises.
For the life of me I cannot explain what is going on. I have no idea what I can do. I was allowing my self not to be discouraged at the steady 140 lbs on the scale (now 144) as I attributed it to muscle versus fat. But, with the measurements around the fat remaining constant, I am having a hard time trying to stay motivated.
Anyway, enough whining. Thought I would bring you all up to speed.

Are you eating too many calories? Did you follow the program correctly?

To make sure that I don't, I have printed off the portion option for the phase I am in and as I eat, I mark off the block that corresponds to that item. ie, 3 oz of chicken, I would cross off 1 block of protein. I also write down on another log what I have eaten.

How tall are you? The lighter you are the harder it is to lose weight. I'm at 170 lbs (6 foot) and I haven't lost any weight on the program (but I don't want to). I've lost quite a bit of fat that has turned into firm muscle though. I wouldn't be discouraged. Stick with it. Exercise is great for you, don't give up!
Don't rely on the scale so much as how you look and feel. Maybe guage how you're doing as to how your old clothes fit now compared to before?

for a couple of weeks, I cut out any kind of bread completely (even whole grains) and strictly only ate meat, veggies, nuts, and fruit. I didn't have a ton of fat to lose to begin with (6'0" 180lbs), but I got a lot leaner in this 2-week period. I'm now weighing in consistently around 173-175 every morning.
The literature suggests extending phase 1 as long as you want until you've burned the fat you need to get rid of. That may be what you need to do, before moving on to upping your carbs in phases 2 & 3.

Angelius,
I highly recommend doing this type of diet during your workouts. http://www.weightloss-hq.biz/weight-loss-reviews/lose-weight-fast-on-the-fat-smash-diet.html
I had the same problem during the first 30 days - I didn't lose anything. During the Phase II I started eating the way explained by Dr. Ian Smith (9 days of clense by eating nothing but fruits, veggies, egg whites etc) then slowly introduce meats. Bread is very bad.
I lost around 25lbs when I completed the program. The first 9 days are the toughest then it gets easier. Don't think you will not have enough energy. I had plenty of it.
Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

the nutrition guide for P90X is gear towards people who are fit. so it can be view like this
Phase 1: is your cutting phase
Phase 2: is your bulking phase
Phase 3: is your "sculpting" phase
but it's not advertised as such at least not the nutritional part. point in case 2400 calories in phase 1 is considered shredding, your certainly not shredding excess fat, rather hard to reach fat

I am 4"11" and initially I did not really pay the scale too much attention. However, my clothes are still not feeling any looser, my measurments are the same as day 1 and I am now in the middle of Phase 2.

I really don't eat bread. I get any of my carbs from either oatmeal or granola. I may go back to the phase 1 diet plan but the only diff is that phase 1 had 1 less carb and 1 more protein. I am trying to avoid cutting out all carbs as the program needs some in order to sustain throughout the workout and I have tried the atkins thing. I gained all of my weight back + 10 unwanted pounds.

I will look into it. Thank you for the suggestion. I just assumed that if I followed the eating program given with the routine, I would loose something by now.

Phase II is for 3 weeks then phase 4 is for 4 weeks. Once you get going with this plan you should notice good results both physically and mentally. Follow it close as you can. The first 9 days are the toughest and I couldn't stop drinking coffee so that was my only weakness.
You should do this while you do p90x. You should lose weight during during phase 1.
Good luck.
