Congratulations Ken! What great results! When are you starting Round 2, tomorrow? I will be doing Round 2 as well, I'll be starting it just before Christmas, (Day 90 is Dec. 18) it'll keep me from going overboard during the holidays. I'm afraid to take any days off either.

Day 91

Chest and Back W/ ARX PART II

Here we go again. Thanks guys and gals by the way. P90X Part Two. When I look back at the day one pictures I can't believe that I had waited so long to do something. I guess I was waiting to find P90X. When you step back and think about it. P90X did not get me into this great shape. I am the one getting myself into better shape. Do not get me wrong P90X played the vital role and will still play a huge role for me in the future. Could I have done this with out it? Maybe. I am just glad that I found something that worked and is still working for me.

No Gym, No travel time, No waiting, No excuses.

For anyone wondering what equipment I am using. Dumbells 8's, 10's, 15's, 20's, 25's, 30,s and 40's. 8 Lb ball for mason twists (thanks again Sixlug). Yoga Mat, Blocks and Strap. Push-up Bars, P90X Pull-Up Bar. I bought Bands and used them only in the first week. Once I swallowed my pride I started to do assisted pull ups instead of using the bands. I have a cheap heart rate moniter. I had most of the dumbells prior to starting and only had to buy 25's and 8's to help fill in the gaps. I have asked santa for a pair of weighted gloves(thanks again Sixlug). That is it.

Anyway that's my stuff.

Looking forward to that sixpack. I guess mine got backordered. I hope to see it soon.

Thanks again

Ken

Still Day 91

I got my Body Fat Calipers today. I took the measurement like they instructed and even checked both sides Three times. I came up with 6mm and I am 35. So that would put my Body fat % at 9.4%. I wish I had done this prior to starting But I guess it really makes no difference. I lost a bucket load of body fat. I don't know how accurate the online calculators are so that is why I ordered a caliper.

Day 92

Plyometrics

Good heart pumping workout today. Really took my squats lower and jumps higher. Legs were toast at the end. Replaced jumpshots with wacky jacks. My chest and lats were sore today from yesterday's beating. Not about to let up on myself. Today at work we had our X-Mas lunch for the shop. I actually took a couple of slices of whole wheat bread with some fat free cheese and made a more healthy sandwich that I did not feel guilty about eating. I was going to have some junk desert until one of my buddies told me that he wasn't going to ruin his 4:30 AM workout. So I decided to not partake in the goodies to try and give him some support. Instead of junk we both had a small cup of fruit.

He gave me a reason to cut the junk. I wanted it but 5 min's later the craving was gone. And it was back to work. Sometimes it's the small things that make the biggest differences.

On another note. Does anybody work for a company that has some kind of health program. Gym memberships or discounts, in house gym or any other incentive to live a healthier lifestyle?

I was appointed to our 2009 Safety Commitee and I am going to try and see if I can get something started. I am not expecting everyone to participate in morning exercises but I do think that alot of people at work would take advantage of a gym membership or something in that direction. The president of the commitiee likes the idea and is going to check with our insurance provider to see if they offer any discounts if such a program is implemented.

He said, that would be the best way to pitch it to the owners. If it can save them money on the premiums. That may spark thier intrest.

Day 3 and 4 Round II

Shoulders and Arms w/ ARX

Yoga X

I really want to pick it up this round. I am going to try sticking to 8 to 10 reps. If I was unable to do 8 with the heavier weight I did as many as I could and the used the next lighter weight and maxed out. Tony refers to it as a strip set. During ARX I did my 30 reps each and added the 8 lb. Ball to both Mason Twists and Roll up/V up combo. Masons I'm doing 40, 20, 20. If I feel I could do more then more is what I try to do. I'm not happy if I can still sit up after ARX.

Yoga went fairly well today although I was feeling a little sick. I didn't eat a whole lot today, 24 Hour Stomach thing. I felt better after yoga and had dinner.

Hey rippin,

Great job on your progress. I am new to this and I just recieved my box.

I'm really looking forward to starting. I will probably start in Jan.

Quick question - you mention on one of your prior post that you had a cheap heart rate monitor. Where did you get it?

Thanks.

Re:rippin5150's Daily Log 1 Year, 3 Months ago Karma: 0
I found it at Sears. I believe it was around 35-40 dollars. It is a Sportline. It shows Time, Heart Rate and has a stop watch. All of the other ones I looked at I couldn't afford. It may not be as accurate as a $90.00 one. But it seems to work fine for me. It is only a reference anyway. You will know when you are in your zone.

Hope that helps

Days 5,6 and 7 of Round II

Day 5 Legs and Back with ARX
I made up a new worksheet for this work out. I was having a hard time remembering if and which weights I used. I really try to take it to my legs. I'm getting more unasissted pull-ups. This time 49 with 133 asissted. After of course I try to destroy my abs.

Day 6 Cardio X and Kenpo
Always a good burn. I really try to keep my core tight when I am doing this one. Pick up the pace on the punches. I also did my Cardio X in the morning. Those wacky jacks man! When I am done it feels like my heart is going to jump out of my throat. Exellent Burn!

Day 7 X Stretch
I really need this today. Legs are sore as hell. I think it's it back to back Legs first weights and then kicks. Every week my legs are sore on the 7th Day

Week 15 Day 1 and 2

Chest and Back and ARX

Good solid workout. Good thing I didn't need my legs too much. They are still sore. Not much improvement over last week as far as reps. Only was able to do a couple more pull-ups and push-ups. ARX yeah it hurt!

Plyometrics

Took kids to see Santa right after work at the mall. I had my first fast food meal in over 4 month's. 6" Turkey Sub on Wheat w/ lettuce and tomatoe and a water. I ate as soon as we got there. I wanted to make sure that it wasn't going to mess up Plyo. Plyo went great, excellent burn. Replaced pitch and catch as well as jump shots with those wacky jacks. . I am looking forward to Arms tomorrow. I love that day.

Week 16

Holiday week went very good. I ate what I wanted just not as much as I wanted. Still trying to work on moderation. Completed all of the workouts. X-mas day I did Cardio x after mass and the went to dinner and then dinner again. No time for Yoga.

Friday Morning Cardio X, Afternoon Yoga, Evening Legs & Back w/ ARX

Saturday Morining Cardio X, Went out to spend some X-mas Cash and got me some weighted gloves. Evening Kenpo X w/ my new gloves. Thanks Santa! That really gets the burn in the shoulders Just keeping your hands up. Yeah I got them Sixlug. I was drenched in sweat. Loved every minute of it.

Sunday Evening X stretch, I called my sister to see if there was a yoga class on Monday. Being that my wife was going to be off It would be the only day this week I could go.

Week 17

7:00 AM woke up to do some X Stretch before going to my first Yoga Class. Mornings are still very tight so I wanted to loosen up a bit. Met up with my sister and went to yoga. I was actually kind of nervous I wasn't sure what to expect I guess. The instructor asked the class for any requests. I requested that she wouldn't try to kill me. The class had a good laugh. The reality of it all was that I had no problems at all. It was almost I dare to say "easy". If it wasn't for the heat being turned up I'm not sure I would have sweat at all. I learned some new twisting postures and I think I shocked my sister. I don't think she really knew how flexible I was. The instructor asked me what studio I normally go to and I told her. I go to my dinning room and do P90X.

When we went into Downward Dog and I was the only one doing push-ups I knew I would be just fine. P90X is a legit Yoga workout. It was really nice to do yoga with a group and keep up with them. I hope to be able to do it again soon. I also hope the next time they will do some balance postures.

Tonight I will be doing Chest and Back w/ ARX after my company leaves. I am going to extend Phase Iand do another week of resistance before going into the recovery week. That was the deal I made myself before the holidays. A week of doubles to bring in the new year.

I hope everyone is having a great holiday season!

Re:rippin5150's Daily Log 1 Year, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
Company has left. Finished up Chest and Back w/ ARX. I concentrated on doing less pull-up reps. By doing my unassisted reps and then using the chair to get back above the bar and then slowly descending until my arms were straight. Much less reps with a bigger burn. I am hoping that this will lead to more unassisted reps.

Tonight I was about to get sucked into the couch. I thought to myself What the heck I did yoga today take a break and relax. Nope! get up and hit play.

Keep it going.

Happy Holidays rippin5150

You are a true inspiration to all of us...even if you used profanity in your last post

Great job on `Pushing Play' and `Bringing It' everday and showing a great example of someone who has kept going with P90X workouts and lifestyle.

Keep up the good work Ken.

Also I'm happy you picked up some weighted gloves...brings Kenpo to a new level doesn't it.

Yes they sure do! I would highly recomend to anyone not feeling the burn during kenpo to invest in a pair of gloves.

Week 17
Plyo, yes it is still tough. Deeper squats Higher jumps. Tomorrow a double. Going to get my shut eye now.
