Day 24 - Kenpo
Scottie too Hottie didn't make it over this morning so I was on my own. Kenpo is probably my favorite. Great sweat, great cardio intensity, plus when I'm done I feel like I could step in a cage and hold my own... ha-ha.
Also walked an hour with the wife today prior to the workout.
I'm sore tonight. Stretch X tomorrow should be right on time.

Day 25
It was rest/stretch X day. I was out of town all day visiting my parents so I didn't do the stretch. I'm disapointed because my body has some tightness and could use the stretch. My hamstring is especially tight. I guess Kenpo kicks got me yesterday.
My back is also a little tight ever since the Core Syn workout. All those Supermans following the Yoga downward dog poses took its toll and stretch X was just what I needed. Maybe I'll sneak it in tomorrow night as a 2nd workout.

I see by your posts your making progress! Thats good. As far as soreness and tightness goes. Linseed Oil is suppposed to help with that. I have not tried it but a lot of people say it helps them.

Hey Big Papa. I just started with chest and back yesterday, and I can honestly say that I was surprised at the workout. My wife did Power 90 a couple of years ago, and this is nothing like that. I agree that the weights/strength workouts are much more my bag.
It's very inspirational to read your logs, so please keep 'em coming!
thanks!

Day 26 - Core Synergistics
This workout is great. I have to really bring it just to get through this one. The only exercise I can't do are the Draya Rolls. I can't get back up just from the momentum.... yet.
I really like the lunge/curl/kickback/curl/shoulder press exercise. It seems like it will never end and the shoulders BURN.
I still had a tough time keeping up with all the flipping around on boat/superman.
Scott and Ryan also are sucking wind on this one. We leave the weightroom drenched in sweat.
Running in plank and chatarunga is tough stuff. I stay in plank most of the time.
Glad to be back on track.

Day 27 - Yoga
Scott and Ryan had another meeting so I was on my own today. I was a little pressed for time so I did the first 45 minutes of Yoga - all the Upward and Downward Dog stuff. I skipped the balance poses because I ran out of time.
The basketball team I coach had open gym today and we were a few kids short. Me, Scott and Ryan all played. It's the first time I've played basketball in about 4 months. I felt great. I didn't get winded and we played for about 75 minutes with very few breaks.
Of all days, I felt real results just from how much I could go hard on the court today. It was a great feeling. I'm still over 300 lbs, but my endurance is much improved.

Day 28 - Stretch X
A good stretch today. This was the last day of the recovery week for Phase 1. I think we're all ready to get after in with some pull ups and push ups again. I'm going to go for some real pull ups tomorrow by using the chair... then when I can do no more I'll continue with the bands.
I must say - I love Child's pose with the hands over to the side. It really stretches the part of my back that gets the most sore when I do over 1000 Downward Dogs in a week.
I also went for a 1 hour walk with my wife around Lexington again tonight. The weather was perfect.
On to PHASE II

Day 29 - Arms and Shoulders
This is the first workout of phase II. It was a good one. Lots of push ups. The one-handed ones are a little much for my current ability, but at the end of this workout I felt like I got something done. The push ups where you shift your hands and feet were intense.
Some of the shoulder stuff burned the muscles - like the weighted shoulder circles!
Ab Ripper X.... I remember the first day when I sat and stared at the ceiling while Ryan and Scott worked through most of the ab exercises. I was exhausted from the first workout and I didn't have the stomach strength to even sit up in the V position to do the crunchy frog or bicycles. Today was a totally awesome feeling to be able to complete 90% of the exercises. The week off must have allowed my abs to rebuild and they were definitely stronger. It was pretty cool today to do all 25 Curl Up/V Ups and all 25 Sit ups with 1 arm up and over.
Good stuff. Just gotta keep pushing play.

Day 30 - Back and Biceps (we switched from Plyo because of the pull-up bars we have access to at work)
This was the first day I tried to do pull ups by using the real bar and putting my feet in a chair. I was able to do between 7 and 10 on all the pull up exercises other than corn cob. Corn cob I could only do 4. Anyway, it was a good feeling to be able to use the bar and try to pull up my own weight.
How many curls did we do today. It felt like a thousand.
I was drenched after this workout again. My muscles are exhausted... they must be confused!
We are writing down our reps and weight in the log now. That's going to help in the long run. It will give us a better idea of where to start and what our goals should be the next time we do the work out.

Day 31
Today was supposed to be Plyo, but it's my wife's birthday so we got up and headed out. We didn't get back home until late so for the first time in a month I did not push play. I'm going to try to do a double tomorrow and do plyo in the morning and Yoga tomorrow night.
Another thing I need to log is just how sore I am from the back and bicep workout on Friday. My biceps and the frong of my shoulders aren't just sore, they HURT. I guess lifting 300 lbs by doing real pull ups instead of doing bands is a little different feeling.
The key for me is to not let 1 day turn in to 2 and 2 turn into a week... I've got to hop right back on the crazy train!

Day 32
I felt like crap all day today. It's windy and overcast here. I took the family to church and then out to lunch - another bad choice meal this weekend. When we got home I felt blah. All I wanted to do was sit around, watch football, and snack. So I did.
Until 6:30pm when I finally got off my a$$ and pushed play. I decided to do Plyo since I missed it yesterday and I was in no mood for Yoga today. By the end of warm-ups I already felt better. By the end of the workout I felt great. I was drenched with sweat and a lot of the soreness I'd been feeling all weekend was gone.
My son did part of the workout with me. He's 2 and he likes trying to do the squat jacks with his hands behind his head.
Moral of the story is... I need a X on a daily basis. It's my addiction.

Day 33 - Legs and Back
If you told me I'd be able to do 76 pull-ups in an hour a month ago, I'd have said you were crazy. Yes I used a chair, but even with a chair I couldn't do 3 pull ups on day 1. This workout - I got 10 on 6 of the sets and 8 on the other 2 sets.
Ab Ripper X - I was exhausted and back to struggling to get 15 on some exercises with Ab Ripper today.
Puddles of sweat from today. Lots of fluid going out and coming in these days. I have to lose some more weight sometime right???
I also played basketball with the team again today for 1 hour and 15 minutes. When that was over I was completely exhausted. It was fun though.

Day 34 - Kenpo
I was SORE all over today. First time I've been sore in the glutes. I think I'm getting lower in my horse stance, wall sits, and most of the squats.
Good workout today. Kenpo is pretty cool. I like everything other than the blocks. I can feel my heart rate go down during the section with the blocks.
Dripping with sweat when we were done today.
Also played basketball with the team again today for 1 hour. It hurt.
I thought I was over the soreness phase, but I guess this is what muscle confusion feels like.

Took a nice stroll with my wife. Beautiful weather here in central KY.

Day 36 - Chest and Triceps
This one is a BEAST. I did better on the push-ups where we slid back and forth on a plate, but the claps and the 1-arm push-ups are still too much for me. When I couldn't do them I just did some more straight push-ups.
I've got some major pain in my right shoulder that comes out when I reach across my body, especially with weight. The tricep extensions were tough to do because of this. I used relatively light weight on all the shoulder exercises today. It was still a great workout with a bunch of sweat.
Ab Ripper X
Better again today. I was even able to climb my leg some today with legitimate foot touching! Usually I'm too sweaty to hang on, but today I was feeling pretty good and was able to do 10 on each leg. Good stuff - Big Papa

Phase 1 was such a shock to my body, especially for the first week. I was as sore as I've ever been. By week 3 I was still getting a great workout, but my body wasn't as sore and I was getting used to the workouts.
In Phase 2 it's like I went back to square 1. My body is very sore again, especially the first week. My biceps stayed sore for 5 days after the back and bicep workout. It's every bit as intense as Phase 1 was... just with some different twists.
Thanks to everyone who takes time to read my log. Your comments are appreciated.

Day 37 - Back and Biceps
Even this workout that I once though impossible is getting better. I was able to do at least 10 pull ups on everything other than corn cob. I still used the chair with both feet (which is quite akward) but it's more than I thought I'd be doing by the 2nd 90 days and it's still just phase 2.
Bicep curls are a serious burn. I was much more accurate on the appropriate weight because I wrote down what I was able to do last time. Very helpful.
Pissed... I weighed in again today. I'd waited a week so I could see some results after I'd plateaued. 312 still. Not one pound lost in a WEEK. I'm stronger, I'm in better shape (play basketball harder and longer than before I started), I'm in 2 holes on my belt and all my clothes fit better - so why am I still stuck at above 310? I'm sure it's my diet, but I'm doing SOOOOOOOOOO much better with my eating than I did before I started. I'd say I consumed about 4500-5000 calories per day when I wasn't paying any attention to what I ate. Now I'm in the 2500 range. I drink no cokes any more - that's all I used to drink. I'm all water and PowerAid Zero and Milk now. I don't understand what's going on. I'm ready to make a drastic move and do Atkins again. I was able to lose 35 lbs on that about a year ago. Maybe combining that with the P90X workouts would work.
Any suggestions are appreciated. Any suggestions that include under 2 minutes prep time and the ability to eat it on the run and away from home are greatly appreciated.

Big Papa...i don't know too much about weight loss, but maybe your body is converting the fat into muscle. Weight is not the only measure of improvement, how you feel physically and mentally also count. I say keep at and see what happens at the 90 day mark.
