Day 39 -

Supposed to be Yoga, but I couldn't bring myself to push play. I took advantage of the beautiful night and went for a 2.5 mile walk. That used to be a major workout for me, but tonight it was a good cardio workout, but pleasant.
Back to pushing play tomorrow.

Day 40 - Back and Legs

I went up 10 pull-ups from last week. I did 86! Both feet still in the chair. Next month I hope to do them with only one foot in a chair then days 90-180 I hope to do regular pull-ups.
My legs are sore this morning, but nothing like last week when my hamstrings and butt were SORE all day.
Also did Ab Ripper X today. It's much harder on days when my legs are tired.

Looking forward to Kenpo today!

Day 41 - Kenpo
A good sweat today. It's crazy that after how hard I sucked wind the first time I did Kenpo, today was kind of easy. My heart rate gets up higher on the breaks when we do running in place, jump rope and jumping jacks. I enjoy it, but it's not the X that most of the other workouts are.

After Kenpo I played basketball with the team for an hour and a half.

One problem today, on my right hand, the outside of my wrist and palm are very sore. I'm not sure what's going on, but I hope it clears up before my next set of push-ups.

I've had that kind of pain before. I think it has to do with tendon stress, and is possibly due to the extra awesome amount of pull-ups you've been doing. Heat/ice it, and it should go away soon.. you may want to switch to bands for the next round of pull-ups just incase.

I'm not a doctor or anything, but that's what I remember researching when I had a similar problem.

Thanks for the advice. That makes sense.

Day 42 - Stretch X/Rest

With the upcoming 5K we decided to take today and run today instead of resting. I made the 3.2 mile run in 36 minutes. I had to walk a couple of times when the hills got to me, but overall I was able to keep a decent pace for me.
The course we'll be running this Saturday isn't as hilly from what I've heard, so hopefully that 35 minute goal is achievable.

Also went on a 45 minute walk this afternoon with the wife. It actually made my legs feel better.

Papa,

That's great, man!! Keep it up, and keep us posted on how the 5K run goes.

So, when you were at your heaviest, did you ever think you'd be running in a 5K? Light it up, man, go far!!

Nope, distance running was not an option 43 days ago. It's still not my favorite thing to do, but this is for a pretty good cause.

Day 43 - Chest, Shoulders and Triceps

Came out a little under-hyped today. I think the low carb stuff has taken some energy, but I've lost 6 lbs in 6 days so that's a good trade in my book. Once we got into it the body got revved up.
Lots of push-ups today. I was worried how the wrist would hold up, but it did ok. I used push-up bars to take some of the pressure and bending off it and it worked.
I still can't do 1-arm push-ups or clap push ups, so I just do regular push ups during that time. Today I did a total of 125 push ups during the work out. That's come a long way from 43 days ago when I had to rest after 5 every time.
Ab Ripper X - maybe my best day on this. Did all 25 in just about every exercise. Heels to the heavens is tough and I have terrible form, but I felt it anyway.

Good stuff. Big Papa

Friday, Jeans day here at work. Jeans are definitely fitting much looser than they used to. Best part - I had to tighten up the belt ONE MORE NOTCH today. It's not a tape measure, it's better.

Day 44 - Back and Biceps

The wrist held up again today. Good work on all the pull-ups. I was able to do a few more than last time. Corn Cobs are still not happening - someday maybe. Lots of curls. I did heavier weight on most of the curl exercises.

Another good X day.

Day 45 - 5K

My goal was 35 minutes. It was my first ever 5K so I really didn't know what to expect. There were over 1000 people in the 5K. I was somewhere near the middle of the pack at the start. It took about 2 minutes to get to the start and another couple of minutes to bob and weave through the walkers. My official time was 36:15, but actual running time was under 35 for sure. I walked a couple of times, but not long.
It was a pretty cool event with over 6000 people involved. Glad I did it. I was exhausted the rest of the day watched some football.

Hey Man,

Congratulations!! Your first of many 5K runs is in the books!!

To quote Tony Horton..."Take in the fact that you just did that!"

Sparta-bound for sure!!

CONGRATULATIONS my friend!!! Great job and keep up the good work. You are half-way there, that is awesome. Really, if you take away the recovery weeks (not that they are easy) you are almost at the end!!!

Saturday night after the 5K, one of the people I was running for (Terry Ramey) my sister in law - died from the cancer. It's not been a good few days around the Big Papa house. Lots of family in and staying with us. She was only 58.
Anyway, I'm back on the X wagon this afternoon. More reports to come.

Thanks everybody.

I've lost track of the days, but this is Phase 2 Recovery Week Day 1
Core Synergistics
Got a good sweat again today.
I really don't enjoy the superman/banana exercise, but it's just cause my big ass can't roll over that quick and it's already time to roll back by the time I actually get into the position...
This workout is a good one overall. I like the putting the boxes on the shelves and the squat X move. The funky arm push-ups I like too. It's good to be back on the wagon.

BTW - With fear of sounding like a woman, I was able to fit into a pair of jeans that have been hanging in my closet for 1.5 years. Felt pretty good to get them buttoned.

nah, that doesn't make you sound like a woman. what makes you sound like a woman is the fact that those jeans had rhinestone hearts on the back pockets...
