You know, there has to be a version for those of us doing P90X in humid weather. Maybe we could call it P90X Muggy or something like that.

Sparta-bound, with chiggers on our ankles!!

Ha Chiggers! Break out the calamine lotion. I was born a Missouri boy so I know exactly what you mean about humidity. Here in Cali I have high heat but the humidity is only about 20-30% tops. Most times in the teens.

Sore today. Did Legs & Back yesterday followed by an hour of martial arts where we focused on legs. That was fun. LOL

After a 3day break I started Phase 2 yesterday. Now that chest triceps was extremely hard but a very good change. I hope I can conquer those clapping pushups but for now I will stick with doing those on my knees. I'm so sore today from that. I woke up and did the plyo but with more instensity and still a hard workout. Cant wait for tomorrw as I hear from you that you all enjoy it.

Hard to believe we are about to finish up week six. Today is Kenpo, though I will probably do Cardio X instead.

Biceps and Back was fun yesterday. Not really my favorite day as it doesn't seem as intense for me as some of the others.

Re:Anyone starting on the 17th? 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
End of Week 6, tomorrow
Started College this week. Monday and Wednesday evenings. My schedule is much fuller, but I managed to fit everything in, just about.

I've finally fit my running and p90x schedules nicely together to get the best out of them...

Monday - Chest, Shoulders and Tri's
Still enjoy this work out, and still dont know why!
Being my day off from work, also went for a 10 mile run before college. Very good run. Just shy of 10 miles in 1hr 15 minutes, which I was pleased with.

Tuesday - Plyo
Nothing new. Good workout.

Wednesday - Backs & Biceps
Still my least favourite, but brought it, AND some.

Thursday - Yoga
up at 5am, with only a few hours sleep. Tired!
But Yoga was just what I needed.
Ran 3 miles after work, with interval bursts, for speed training.

Friday - Legs & Back
Complete lack of motivation this morning. Hit the snooze button too many times, missed my chance in the morning to work out. First time thats happened.
Made up for it after work.
Ab Ripper x, compared to when I first started is SO much easier. Still very challenging to complete. But I can nearly complete it all without taking breaks, or using my hands for support.

Saturday - Kenpo, today
Again struggled to get up early. Missed Kenpo.
Ran 3 miles, standard, after work.
Again not too bothered about missing Kenpo, as I did SOME kind of cardio in the day.

Sunday - Stretch, tomorrow
Been looking forward to this day all week.
Though looks likely I may do some boxing type fitness with a friend tomorrow, so may miss out on a 'rest'.
ALSO, with the same friend, going to start some kind of Martial Art class next week. Most likely, Kick Boxing.
Add it to p90x, and half marathon training, anyone think it's too much? Imma give it a go for now

Switching my running days around, has really helped with pretty much everything...
- a LONG run on a Monday, after recovery day (sunday) so Im nice and fresh for it.
- then Plyo, Tuesday, which also helps towards the same goal. Running 10 miles last week AND doing Plyo on the same day was a bad idea!
- Thursday, Yoga & interval training. followed by Fridays legs workout.
- Finally Saturdays final standard run of the week.
All in all, 5 days a week now I'm working parts of my body that will help big time for long distance running!

Only one more week, then its RECOVERY week again! Ooh, how I cant wait haha.

Today is the start of Week 7. Got on the scale today and was disappointed to see I have only lost 3 lbs of fat since the start of this. Must admit a little frustrated as I am following the diet, which isn't always the easiest as it takes a little work to prepare things ahead of time. I think I am going to tweak it some. Maybe cut back a couple hundred calories. Anyone else not losing weight yet?

Re:Anyone starting on the 17th? 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Wasn't able to work out yesterday, pulled something in my neck/shoulder blade area and can't turn my head without it hurting. Hard to do much without being able to turn my head. So unfortunately nothing to really update here.

I am planning on adding running to my routines here shortly. I know someone else here was running as well. Question for that person, how have your energy levels been with trying to do the workouts and running?

Im on 2nd week of phase 2. I did Chest/Triceps on Wed and today I am feeling my triceps very sore. My plyo was good this morning though I only did 45 mins. I will make up plus more this evening. It's starting to become fun as I dreaded it before. Yoga hmm still dread but continue.

Re:Anyone starting on the 17th? 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
As far as the running goes. Lately it's been great, especially since I've juggled my schedule around and improved the cohesion between running and p90x (see below).

I'm able to enjoy the runs more, and I'm pretty sure my recovery time has gone up. I ran 12 miles yesterday, and am feeling pretty good today. Compare this to when I ran my first half marathon, 13.3 miles, I was completely ruined for days afterwards.

My Normal Schedule
I've highlighted parts I believe are important for my half marathon training.
Monday
Chest, Shoulders & Tri's + Long distance Run, 12 miles currently.

Tuesday
Plyometrics

Wednesday
Back & Biceps + 3 mile Run(speedwork)

Thursday
Yoga

Friday
Legs & Back

Saturday
Kenpo + 3 mile Run (standard)

Sunday
Stretch

So my legs are getting a strong workout basically 5 days a week. It's important to have that variety too. E.g. Before I did speedwork I'd be out of breath a lot easier shortly in to a given run.

Without p90x, I would never had thought to do Plyometrics, but I'm sure it's helping my running. Also in the past I was quick to neglect working out my leg muscles, but again it's a part of p90x. So if you can fit it in your schedule it can all work nicely together.

Stretching, being so paramount in this program, has also definitely helped in this area too.

Last point. I've started eating more rice (wholegrain). It helps tremendously for energy and recovery. Any quality source of carbs in large quantities is really helpfull.

Week 7 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Sunday - rest/stretch
Played Football, so no chance of a rest day. Given the amount I exercise lately, Yoga is almost a rest day in my mind lol, so figure I'm fine this once

Monday - Chest, Shoulders & Tri's
Solid workout. I'll miss this workout when the schedule changes.

Due to a mix up with what hours I was meant to work, I couldn't find time to run a long distance today. I still managed to fit in a run however, by running TO work, with my backpack on, which only intensified matters. Turns out it was a fairly humid day, so my hoody was SOAKED after the 5 miles.

Tuesday - Plyometrics
Sweat was dripping off me, but I swear it wasn't THAT intense. Still hard though.

Wednesday - Back & Biceps
I actually enjoyed today. Got a great pump on my biceps with every move. As I write my veins are still popping out

12 mile run today. I effectively ran from my house to College, so was again with my backpack. I was pretty tired after 9 miles. Though there wasn't THAT much in my bag, it's still a weight to bear.

Handily, my evening class was Sports Massage. I had my tutor show me (demonstrate on me) a good post event massage/stretch. Worked wonders for me, as my legs were pretty solid stiff by 8pm. By 8.30pm they were like jelly.

Thursday - Yoga
I went out drinking last night. First time I've touched alcohol for nearly 3 months. Crazy (for me). Needless to say, I got hammered quite easily.
Yoga was the last thing I wanted to do this morning. I considered skipping the first 45 minutes, but ended up doing it all. In the END I'm glad I did. I swear it helped my hangover

Only couple more days, and we're in recovery week again!!
Not sure yet how, or if, I'll re-adjust my running schedule to accommodate 'this rest'.

My only dissapointment so far, is the lack of size I'm packing on. I can only assume this is down to my diet. I've only just this week started to REGULARLY eat rice. I'm hopeful the extra quality carbs will help.

This thread has been getting quieter and quieter, hope y'all are still with me! Bring it!

Re:Week 7 5 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Another recovery week. Not my favorite but perhaps I can add a touch more cardio. Maybe see if I can run a couple of miles. I haven't run for quite some time.

I'm down just shy of 13 lbs as of this morning. I'm in the neighbor hood of 19% BF I'll do an official measurement later this weekend. I started this affair at 25%+. I'm very happy with the way things have gone so far. Phase three is going to be tougher for me. It's starting to get cold in the mornings and I'm not a cold person... Not even a little bit.

Work has been pure insanity. I have had one beer in the last 9 weeks. Tonight I'm going to eat pizza and drink beer. This is a mental health thing more than anything. Sunday morning I'll be right back on the program and at 5 am Monday morning I'll be out on the mats doing the right thing.

We're almost home now. Stay focused and work harder than you have before. In another 6 weeks we will walk out the other side of P90X better, stronger and leaner. Then it'll be time to start planning for round two.

Tired from yesterdays workout (Day 2 of Week 8). I added a short run as well in hopes of jump starting my metabolism.

I love Core Synergistics. I was so in to it today, it was time to stretch before I was ready to quit... not that I didn't work up a DAMN GOOD sweat in the mean time though!

Also, just signed my self up for the Barcelona Marathon! March 7th 2010. Just over 5 months away. Which means my half-marathon in Cardiff on the 18th this month will be good practice, fingers crossed!

p.s. I'm raising money for my Barcelona run, for WSPA, World Society for the Protection of Animals.

The last stretch!

About to head off to do Plyo, and then go for a run. Definitely feeling it after the switch up, back to Chest & Back yesterday. The workout REALLY hit hard on my pecs.

Keep bringing it.

Funny. My pecs are sore today as well. Lats too a bit. I still suck at pull ups but I'm pushing it harder and harder each time.

I start phase 3 next week!!! Im in recovery week but why do they call it that when it's not easy!!! I guess it's because we don't lift weight but STILL it's not easy. I think it's harder doing the core syn routine. I do keep up with you guys so I can see what's next for me.
