im heading to NY for 10 days and wont be able to take my p90x kit over there in order to continue the routine.. will it affect if i dont do it for 10 days? or is there any worout i can do so i wont loose my hard work and just continue where i stopped when i get back??

That's a tough call. Can you do any type of workout? If not, I recommend you start at where you left off when you get back.

Just start at where you left off when you get back. Don't worry yourself too too much about missing a day here and there or if something comes up such as this to "screw" with your routine. You have to keep in mind that P90X isn't just a 90 day thing, it's a lifestyle change. Trust me, once you're done with P90X it's not just that you stop working out and eating healthy, hopefully you'll be doing this for a long long time to come. Unless you have a 90 day deadline that you're trying to get into shape for something specific, expect yourself to be training and staying healthy for the rest of your life, hopefully...
