hi all im new here but i find it very convenient to post in this thread because i actually started my p90x on the Sunday August 16th with my brother (we're doing it together). Today, Sunday September 13 is the start of PHASE II of p90x and thus week 5. I woke up and did cardio x this morning and looking forward to doing chest, shoulders, and triceps AND the insane ab ripper x later today. Ill keep you all updated!

By the way, im doing the Doubles workout to cut down on some weight even though im 170 lbs and not really that fat but i still want to keep healthy and lower my body fat%. Ive noticed great changes to my muscle bulk so far and a little decrease in my body fat % which i am thrilled in.

Since im doing this with my brother, im really motivated (as well as he) to keep going and try my best (and forget the rest) for the next 2 months. Im planning to do p90x more than once!!! Ill keep you posted!!!!!!

Welcome to the thread. Seems like there are only a few of us left so one more is nice to have. I'm doing doubles as well.

heck yea im gonna be givin daily updates, well i just did chest shoulders and triceps and it was a KILLER HARD workout but good one (most upper body workouts are taxing for me). Ab ripper surprisingly was not as bad as i thought it would be. The entire last week was recovery week with no ab workouts except the little bits in core synergistics and yoga so i was afraid my abs got weak and stuff. but i was happy i could do more reps than normal without stopping! i did 30 mason twists b4 taking a quick break to relieve the aching! yay

hello to all a month ago i joined this "team" so to speak but didnt really stay updated with the thread, so as far as an overview of my p90x experience i do believe it is an excellent workout and i like it a lot!!!! As far as the diet i messed up once which was the day before yesterday (also skipped a workout for the first time). I cant wait for my 30 day pics i definitely see results and want to use this thread as another form of motivation on my p90x journey

I agree with you on the chest, shoulders and triceps workout. Did that yesterday. It was hard but when I was done I was totally pumped. I can see it being one of my favorite workouts. Kicks your butt but you feel good when your done.

And welcome aboard Translash!

I really like Chest, Shoulders, Tris. My shoulders tend to feel a massive burn throughout this whole workout. Feels good.

Yesterday was back & biceps. Not sure about those Corn Cob pullups...yikes! The side to side part is easy it's the out part that seems harder. Will be doing Plyo today...switch my cardio workouts around as I had martial arts class Monday which I use instead of Kenpo.

Still strange to think we are now in week 5.

hi all! I have been reading your posts and would like to join in. I am a week behind you all but I like to see what's next by reading your posts. I do post on another thread but not much activity there. It is hard to post daily but I like to keep accountable by posting daily myself. I am on phase 1 my recovery week. I am preparing for Monday for phase 2 and from what I read from you you really are enjoying the chest shoulders triceps. recovery week is a killer and there is no recovery there. I do my workouts at 5AM and they do keep me energized. I missed my workout this morning and it's only 9:25AM and I'm dragging. I will not do that again. I will fit it in this evening somehow. I'm not seeing the scale move much for me but I do see muscle defintion. This wknd I'm going to see the Dallas Cowboy Game (ouch for people who don't like the cowboys ha). I live in TX and the drive is about 5 hours from me. I have been trying to see how can I do this while out of town. I will manage somehow. Thanks for still bringing it!!!!

"Drink your water people" I can hear Tony saying it.

I woke up this morning and did back and bi. Then I did ab ripper x. By the time I was done I was dead... well, almost. I could just muster enough energy to lift the toast I was having for breakfast. Lifting my glass to drink was almost more than I could do. Something was wrong. I started doubles this week so I had adjusted my diet to add a few (just a few) more carbs and reduce some fat. Could I have been this wrong? I was seriously hurting here. I fought my way to the shower then to work. Thank God for caffeine pills.

By 11 am I was better but not by much. I ate two El Pollo Loco tacos for lunch -each has 191 cal, 16 carbs, 8 fat- I was trying to add a little carbs. I thought that was what had gone wrong. I felt horrible all day but I went home to do my evening "doubles" work out. So at 5pm I hit the mat for CardioX. Now keep in mind my garage where I work out is 95 degrees in side. It was 101 outside. I have a thermometer in there that shows both. Half way through the Yoga part I just wasn't into it. I skipped forward to the Kenpo part. That felt better but I was having trouble getting my heart rate up. By the time I finished the Plyo part My heart rate was good 135 to 145ish with occasional forays into the low 150's. Normal. It was also about this time that I realized I was dry as a bone. No sweat. Not a drop. I was also feeling just a bit sick.

Well, you don't have to hit me with a brick. I realized then that except for the water with my morning workout and breakfast after, I had not had any water all day. Only the diet coke I had at lunch. Upon further, careful thought I realized I had followed a similar pattern (without the diet coke) the day before. The day before that? I can't imagine it was much better. That might explain my incredible craving for salty foods lately.

What is worse is that I had already identified my tendency to not drink enough. I have a desk job and have bottled water available but my job is incredibly intense and I just forget about drinking... Idiot!

I will make changes. Don't make the same mistake I made It could have been much much worse.

"Drink your water people"

Legs & Back yesterday. Nice workout. Getting better with the pull ups. Still not losing any weight though. I am only down a couple pounds of fat after almost 6 weeks. My diet is pretty good and I feel I am bringing it.

Breakfast:
Protein Shake
Two whole grain waffles (added these during Phase 2 to get my carbs)

Snack AM:
Pure Protein Bar

Lunch:
Tuna or Chicken Salad

Snack Afternoon:
Pure Protein Bar

Post Workout:
1 cup chocolate milk as recovery drink

Dinner:
Varies (chicken, steak, fish)
Vegetable
Fruit

Snack PM:
String Cheese

I haven't strayed much from the diet since day 1. Someone brought donuts in this morning at work and strange but they don't even look appealing. Is anyone else having trouble losing weight? Or have any comments to my meals.

Well I'm back on track I believe. I have been working it everyday, but I'll tell you until Friday afternoon I was still not back 100%. I had to skip ARX on Friday. Time just slipped away somehow.

Anyway I'm going to look at my diet again very close and perhaps add a couple hundred calories each day.

sdfrcf,
Diet looks good. Only things I'd add, are maybe some more fruit in the early part of the day to compliment the protein bar for extra vitamins, and a slow digesting protein shake before bed. Else it's pretty spot on.

Personally, I can't stand salads, so I'll have a vegetable stir fry for lunch or dinner.
Depending how early/late in the morning I work out, I try to have a Omelette fairly soon after which normally equates to my b.fast or lunch (4-5 eggs, mushrooms, onions, peppers, tomato). Very filling, and excellent recovery food.
Protein shakes/smoothies frequently... (either with berries or vegetables. and usually all with seeds and flaxseed oil.)

Lots of water. and I constantly snack (nuts, grapes, apples, oat bars)

Re:Anyone starting on the 17th? 6 Months ago Karma: 0
The weeks are flying by now

Monday - Chest, Shoulders & Tri's
Love this work out.

Tuesday - Plyo
Good workout as ever. Great sweat, and great way to start the day. Evening, I ran 10 miles, and damn near killed me

Wednesday - Back & Biceps
Complete opposite. Very laborious.

I can't explain my reasons for the above lol.. I don't know
I need to up some of the weights, as I wasn't sure how much I'd need for many of the exercises. It's a pain when I don't have a large selection of dumbells to choose from.

Thursday - Yoga
Without doubt, my favourite workout/day. I just love the fact I'm becoming more and more flexible. The first half is becoming less of a chore, and more of a good challenge too.

Ran 3 miles

Friday - Legs & Back
No longer my least favourite workout. Upgraded to second least

Saturday (today) - Kenpo
I upped my weights to 2x 2.1kgs. REALLY felt it in my arms. I wonder if it's too much
May bring it back down depending on how next week goes. Definitely want to get some ankle weights to help intensify some of the kicking moves. Many of them, I just feel like I'm flailing my leg out and not doing a whole lot

100 + punches at the end... ooooh weee! With those weights, I had to take a break... but still brought it!

+ Another 3 mile run after work.

Sunday, tomorrow - Stretch
Woooooo... I can't wait to "take care of oursevles" as Tony puts it

Picked up some York weight gloves today. My hands have been taking their toll on pullups etc so I REALLY needed these, and they are fantastic quality for only £11. Leather padded palms, very comfortable. Can't wait to use them.

Also this week, finally managed to wrap up the fact I'm definitely on to 2 College evening classes, starting Monday.
- Reflexology
- Sports Massage & Sports Therapy.
Very excited to do these, but it takes away 2 evenings a week I can go running. More tightening of my schedule to be done.
Also potentially looking to do one more lol... a Nutrition class. Which I think will help wonderfully with the diet part of p90x, and understanding many aspects of it.

Rambled on some there
Keep bringin it guys!!

Re:Anyone starting on the 17th? 5 Months, 4 Weeks ago Karma: 0
OK sorry for delay guys i am really busy with my studies and stuff but ill just give all the heads up on thursday i did legs and back in the afternoon and cardio X in the morning, and the legs and back i tried so hard i mean SOOOO hard with 25 lb weights in each hand and i think i had a good workout. cardio was great like usual and i hope i shed some fat off.

i weighed myself that day and i was still 170 lbs since the start of p90x but you know what? its probably cuz i lost tons of fat and gained muscle to counteract the weight so i dont really care much about the weight loss itself i just care about the fat loss so all is good

friday i did kenpo x and i felt my entire butt ache cuz i tried so hard on thursday with legs and back. Kenpo i always try really hard to punch and kick and give it all my strength during the punches and blocks cuz i think it helps to "cut" your muscles from the repetitive motions. Also boosts your cardio system more to burn off more fat which is always welcomed

saturday was rest day for me, i usually take saturda off and opt not to do x stretch because saturday is the day i catch up with all my studies and work.

today, sunday, i woke up a little late but still managed to do cardio x in the morning and ate a big bowl of oatmeal i have oatmeal everyday for breakfast even before i go to work. Chest, shoulders, and triceps + ab ripper x is coming up later and im a little nervous about the former because last week it was hard for me so today i know a monster is coming ahead :O ill give it my best though

as you can see im rushing right now (and every day) to study and stuff thats why my punctuation and capitalization is off but i'd rather take time to update you guys to give some a little motivation if it helps!

cheers!

Six Weeks down!!

Shoulder, Tri's, and Back. Love that workout. If only my arms would stay that pumped all the time

Hoping to start seeing some pounds drop off and my body fat % go down. How is everyone else doing for weight loss and body fat %?

Just did Plyo...phew...that is a good workout. They are getting easier and I am not having to use the cheats as bad for some of the exercises as much so definitely improving.

Re:Anyone starting on the 17th? 5 Months, 4 Weeks ago Karma: 0
argh yesterday i did chest shoulders and triceps and lemme tell you it was hell. i dont think ive ever given so much effort in a workout since i started this program but man i felt like my muscles turned into diamonds :O Ab riper X afterwards was amazing i DID ALL 50 MASON TWISTS WITHOUT STOPPING. my record before that was 30 wow! I dont think ill ever get to all 50 again but i was so pumped from the chest workout maybe thats why i did all 50. ill try my best every time tho!

today was plyo, whch still remains infamously as my least favorite workout. Today was the first day i did not have to hit the pause button for plyo and just plowed through it doing about 90% of the reps they did. Absolutely amazing wow i fell so great that im starting to improve and you know what, maybe thats all it takes to motivate you to more. I mean if the workouts get easier you know that you are getting results which is all i need to keep me going lol.

anyways good luck again i gotta wake up at 5am to do cardio

Re:Anyone starting on the 17th? 5 Months, 4 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Well my weight has been stagnant since this time last week. After my little bout with dehydration I feel like last week was a complete waste. I didn't miss any workouts until Friday when I skipped ARX and I feel like I gave everything I had each time. I just don't feel like that was enough.

I think I'm back on track. Monday was Chest Shoulders and Tri's. Great, fun workout. I did my cardio this evening in the same 98 degree garage. No problems. My wife says maybe I should wait and do the cardio later in the evening when it is a bit cooler. She maybe right. When I left work at 4:30 the thermometer in my car said it was 106 outside. I don't think it was really quite that hot. In the garage I turn on a fan and a swamp cooler. That really doesn't change the temp. much, but at least it gets some air moving.

Stick with it everyone.
