Coco: Happy Birthday and good luck on your next attempt. You can do it. Remember falling down is not the definition of failure. Failing to get up is.
My second alarm goes off at 4:45am. I just didn't want to drag my fat butt out of bed this morning. I hit the snooze a time or two then decided I couldn't give in. I knew if I gave in this time, next time would be a way too easy. I got up and did what I had to do, arms and shoulders.
My biggest fear right now is that I'll look back at the end of 90 days and think I could have done much better. I don't want that. I want to look back and say, yeah I had some bad days but I always gave it everything I could.
So when you wake up tomorrow or the next day and think, Man! I really don't want to play this game today. I want you to stop and think; Well hell, Drago is out there on the mats. I may as well go too.
I'll be thinking the same thing about you.
Keep your eyes on the prize.

Did part of the Yoga today. Since it is not my favorite it will take some time to build up to the 90 minutes. I think this will be the tough workout to get through as I find it just boring.

Nice posts, everyone!
So here's a little food for thought (calorie-free)...do we Spartans participate in P90X in order to get pushed so hard that we get knocked down, or do we participate in P90X so that we develop the strength and courage to rise up?
I think I know the answer, but I'm interested in your thoughts...
Sparta-bound,
Kevin

Catching a cold... It started Thursday night and by Friday morning I was fully engulfed. I still did my legs and back workout. I gave it everything I could but I really didn't show much if any improvement over the last week's legs and back workout. I was tired all day at work and after work just vegitated on the couch which is something I rarely if ever do.
My Saturday weigh in was 206.2 which was great. I can see some slight results looking in the mirror but I just feel small. Not skinny just small. Head games. My wife says she can see some difference which is good.
Another week and we get to do 30 day pics. I can't wait. I'm also looking forward to the recovery week workouts. Core looks like fun and I enjoy Plyo.
Keep going people! We're in too deep to quit now.

Week 3 almost over. It's been a tough week, in terms of motivation... just haven't had much, but still brought it, kinda.
Getting up at 5am somedays knowing I have to go through Plyo or Legs and Back isn't very inspiring to me... but I seem to have an innate refusal to give up so far. Hopefully will carry me through.
Diet has been ok, except I've had a few treats throughout the week. I work in Thorntons, (a chocolate theme Cafe), so it's tough to completely avoid tempting foods
I don't know if it's a coincidence, but I was feeling very lethargic during the middle of the week, and I hadn't been eating too many vegetables. A heavy vegetable smoothie yesterday evening, and I've felt much better today.
Did Kenpo today, again using my lone bar bells for added weight. OK workout, except I just wasn't into as much as I could've been. The whole week has been a little like that. Perhaps could have done better, but at least I was there completing everything.
What's helped me keep going this week, is the thought of a 'rest' next week.
Stretching tomorrow, lovely... my favourite day.
Also, been out running twice for my half marathon training. a 3 mile, and a 6 mile run. May go for another tomorrow. Next week hopefully will make it to 9 miles. The half-marathon is just over a month away, so I need to get busy!
With this in mind, I've upped my carb intake. Re-introduced much more pasta (wholemeal) to my diet. Eating lots of left over pasta bake (w/ chicken)... hence the lack of vegetables. I need to find the right balance.

tough last two days. tweaked my knee. had surgery on it earlier this year. scale isn't showing much but my wife says I look more toned and that it is working, I sure hope it is.
Tomorrow is the start of week 4. Bring it on!!!
PS - if anyone is looking for protein bars you can find some coupons for Pure Protein bars, buy one get one free at The Coupon Clippers. I just got 60 coupons (120 bars). Target here sells the bars for $1.29. They still have 1,645 coupons for them, expire 10/4.

Kenpo today. Didn't lose any weight last week but body fat % dropped. So still a win I guess.

Did Yoga yesterday. Still not one of my favorites but trying to give it a chance. I prefer the balancing portion of the cd compared to the first half. For me the 90 minutes is too long, I lose focus. A couple people have now mentioned my arms looked more toned. So it must be working, which is nice to know.

Feels like the group here has pretty much died out.
Tomorrow is the start of week 5. Looking forward to it. Even though I haven't lost as much fat as I was hoping I won't be giving up. Did add some lean mass so not all was lost. Will be going back to relook at my diet, which has been clean with the exception of a cheat day...and probably tonight (my anniversary - after 18 years I think a nice meal is in order).
For anyone still with me here keep Bringing It!!!

I was feeling the same thing. It's getting kind of quiet around here... We'll I'm still here and I'm committed to completion in grand fashion.
I thought I had my diet dialed in pretty good I was averaging about 2 lbs a week weight loss. This recovery week had me up a pound and a half. I'm not happy about that. That's ok for future recovery weeks I will restrict my calorie intake a bit more.
I am looking forward to week five and starting doubles. That too will take a bit of diet adjustment I'm sure.
Thirty day pictures are around the corner.
Lets do this thing!

You know I have done Yoga every time it's been called for and I still don't like it. I always come out of it with sore knee and hip joints. Once I heard this big POP! come from my right knee. That was the first time doing yoga. I can still feel it.
I have been considering replacing yoga with one of the bonus workouts on the How To Bring It DVD. Specifically the cardio interval work out. I have really resisted the idea of substituting anything, but I'm in so deep now I would hate to blow it because of injury. I've been mulling this over since that POP I told you about earlier... I've still done the yoga each time but I'm thinking I'm going to switch. Maybe I'll switch it for Core Syn. I love that work out...

Week 4 complete tomorrow
I have loved this week.
Core Synergistics being the most challenging workout. To me it was just kinda like Plyo with weights. Great challenge though, and awesome variety.
Yoga twice... I just love it. I know some you guys don't feel the same, but I can understand the first 45 minutes can be a burden... I look forward to the second half of it. But I know I always feel amazing after.
Kenpo, once earlier in the week. Missed today, the first workout I've missed in 29 days. I don't feel guilty though, as I played football in the rare but glorious sunshine today.
My diet is + an extra 500 calories a day minimum at the moment, taking in to account my running. Been out 4 times this week. Two times I ran 7 miles in decent times. Next week I need to up it to at least 9.
My 7 mile run yesterday was AWEsome.
Photo day tomorrow I guess. While I've thoroughly enjoyed the program thus far... worked out accordingly hard, and pretty much followed the diet... I'm slightly discouraged not to have put on much size. Also have no way to calculate my current body fat %, without calipers.
Little annoying, given everything else is going swimmingly!
The biggest difference for me so far out of everything is without a doubt my flexibility. It's a piece of cake to touch my toes now. A month ago I could barely stretch down half way past my shins
Yoga + stretching = results.
Keep bringin it peeps

Good to hear you guys are still bringing it!
QUOTE: This recovery week had me up a pound and a half.
Drago - has your body fat % still going down? I initially lost weight but have added several pounds back. However, my body fat % has continued to go down.
I remember seeing a post somewhere in which a few people mentioned that they didn't really start losing weight until Phase 2. So hopefully I will start to see the body fat melt off.

There's at least three of us...

Yeah I'm still down as far as BF% goes. I'm not too shaken up by it, but I still don't like it.
I agree with phase 2 being when the magic starts to happen, At least I hope so. Before I ever bought p90x I spent a lot of time looking at progress pics all over the web. I can remember commenting to the wife that for most people it looked like the serious changes began in the second 30 days.
Here is to the next 30... Cheers.

Drago, a pound and a half can be a lot of things. That's an extremely small amount of weight. Your body will fluctuate through the day anywhere from 3-4 lbs just in water weight alone! Those 1.5 lbs you "gained" could be just water weight. For instance, if you weigh yourself right after a workout, that's going to be highly inaccurate.
Most of the weight you lose in the beginning of a program like this is water weight or glycogen storage. So it's easily gained back. After a month or so is when the fat actually starts to come off consistently.
This is why I only weigh myself every 30 days. Every day or week is too often in my opinion.
Also, it's not about the weight. It's about body change. Fat loss, muscle gain, etc.

I'm still here with you guys. It was a horrible recovery week for me. I think I did one of the workouts maybe. On top of that I went out drinking with friends almost every night. I weighed in today and took my measurements. Luckily nothing has changed from the week before. Gotta detox and recover today so I can get back on track and bring it for phase 2.
I'm really considering switching to the doubles routine. I would basically be doing the classic routine then add in a cardio in the afternoon. I wonder if doing core synergistics instead of cardio would be a bad idea.

hi all im new here but i find it very convenient to post in this thread because i actually started my p90x on the Sunday August 16th with my brother (we're doing it together). Today, Sunday September 13 is the start of PHASE II of p90x and thus week 5. I woke up and did cardio x this morning and looking forward to doing chest, shoulders, and triceps AND the insane ab ripper x later today. Ill keep you all updated!
By the way, im doing the Doubles workout to cut down on some weight even though im 170 lbs and not really that fat but i still want to keep healthy and lower my body fat%. Ive noticed great changes to my muscle bulk so far and a little decrease in my body fat % which i am thrilled in.
Since im doing this with my brother, im really motivated (as well as he) to keep going and try my best (and forget the rest) for the next 2 months. Im planning to do p90x more than once!!! Ill keep you posted!!!!!!

Yeah all true. I weighed 206 today which means 0 loss from last Saturday, but I've gotten rid of that pound and a half. My official weigh in is on Saturday. So Sat to Sat my record shows I was up a pound and a half. Make sense? Now if I'm 204 next Sat then I'll show a loss of 3.5 lbs, Follow me? Even though I watch what my weight does every day I record it only once a week and follow that trend. Well actually I write my weight down on my calender every day. Saturday is just my official weigh in.
I'm pretty familiar with how my weight fluctuates and how my diet and activity affect it. For the last 5 or 6 years I have weighed daily. Just an every morning habit. As such I don't get too freaked out by 3 or 4 pounds one way or the other, especially if I can tie it to recent diet or activity. Your right body composition is the key here and I have been on a steady downward path with regard to body fat %. I also measure that with Calipers once a week.
