Your pics are the reason I will finish P90X. Those are inspirational.

Awesome job! Your results are pure "motivation" for the some of us newbies.

I am so glad I read your post about your calorie intake. I am 5'11" weighing in at 220lbs with 18% body fat. I can have up to 3200 calories but my goal is to lose fat (not neccessarly weight but we all know that comes with it) so I my decreased my amount to 2900. I am on Day 4 and I am struggling to get to 2000 calories. I feel great, full, and have plenty of energy. I have posted a few different threads on my calorie intake and just about everyone is telling me to eat more. I am far from starving myself and I am all set with forcing it.

Based on your results, I would say it's alright to eat far less than you should if your body is feeling good throughout. I am a bit releaved, I am still going to target 2000 but anything higher seems to be forcing it for me. I am going to maintain my 1800-2000 calories until my body tells me otherwise.

Thanks!

Thanks Whiplash, Arod and Nitsy, much appreciated. I am gonna eat whatever the hell I want for thanksgiving as well LOL.

Fightfatblogger, like I said listen to your body, Not everyone fits into the cookie cutter nutrition. I found what worked for me. I did not eat high calorie snacks. If 1800-2000 works, you feel great, have lots of energy and are not hungry you are fine. I disagree with the eat more mentality and with the starvation mode talk. These workout are too intense for your body to retain fat in a starvation mode, no way. Keep bringin it.

What was your daily carb intake? And how on earth did you manage to afford to keep it so low!?

I'll join the fan club... awesome results man. You probably make people who see you in person jealous, but they should know the hard work it took to get where you are. Great inspiration...

I'm a day shy of two weeks into this thing and am pleased with my already noticeable results. I've dropped nearly 10 pounds, notice more definition in my arms, can do workouts better, clothes fit better, etc. I'm just curious, what kind of progress markers (besides visible change) did you experience during the first, second, and third phase?

I'm intrigued by your comments about calorie intake. I agree with you that each person should listen to their body and not be worried if they're not matching the numbers exactly. I'm hitting around 2k calories a day, and although I feel full after eating I still feel hungry... specifically for chips. They were my weakness before, and I'm pretty sure I was addicted to them because I have really gone through withdrawal... kinda funny, actually.

Cheers,

Awesome result Pauly. I have some ??s. I'm on week 7 now and obvisly I lost fat, how ever I feel like I'm losing muscle mass also. Is it bad to consume more protein than the 40,40,20? I started off pretty stocky cause I've been hitting the gym for quite some years. Although my abs are now showing, I've seem to lost some size on my arms. Maybe it's just alot of water weights who knows. For the 90 day did u happen to hit the gym or any other exercise? I've also been doing double once a week. Lost 12 lbs so far.

Re:PaulyP's Final Pictures 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 9
Koolq76 you are most likely not losing muscle mass but getting leaner. Although P90X is not a mass building program. It is about getting ripped. Getting ripped and building mass do not happen together. If you eat too much protein it will be excreted, just a waste. I never did doubles, on some of my yoga and kenpo days I would go play hockey for about an hour and a half.

NotGettingYounger: No real milestones along the way, just consistently got better at the workouts, but then you just push it harder.

Hey Austin,

Still Working it, about 3-4 P90X workouts per week, play hockey 1-2 times per week. Eating about the same but certainly not as strict. Have not really moved as far as weight. Thinking about doing another round here shortly with some Insanity mixed in. Friend has Insanity gave the Max Plyo workout a try, WOW, some crazy stuff.

Hope all is well with you

Great results PaulyP. Hope I see something similar when I finish, but you've set the bar high.

Couple questions:
(1) Why didn't you use a recovery drink? Simply because you didn't want to buy one or because you don't believe in its effectiveness?

(2) When would you say that you started seeing the most change? I just start phase 2, and while I'm very pleased with my 30 day progress, I'm curious as to how accelerated changes will be in phase 2.

Thanks, and good job again!

Wow man, that is phenomenal. This motivates and encourages me, as my day one pics are quite similar in build to yours. Muscles are there, just hidden under some layers.

You made one hell of a leap from day 30 to day 60 though, my goodness. Was that just you bringing it harder? What kind of reps and weights were you doing in that timeframe?

Just amazing man...you are a walking, talking (typing) testimonial to the fact that this program works. I hope I can even approach the realm of your results.

Re:PaulyP's Final Pictures 2 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 9
Thanks again guys! No workouts this week, Jet Lag is killing me.

@Stoja
I didn't feel the recovery drink was necessary. I found just eating some fruit and having a protein shake did me fine. I was making sure my body was fed right at all times so I seemed to have enough energy.

The most changes happened in phase 2, It takes awhile for your body to get used to the workouts and realize this is a constant habit. When that happens it starts burning food like crazy. Anything in gets burned up immediately. This is the best time to have cheat meals because they burn up very fast. I actually did not want to get any leaner and I could not stop it, body just wanted to burn calories.

Suggested to my wife that I might do another round and she said "not hardcore right" I would like to have a husband not a "skeleton with muscles"

thanks again

Yep, everything is great with me so far. I'm just starting round 2 of P90X. My day 90 results were fantastic, but I'm hoping to be under 10% body fat by the end of this 90 days. Great to hear you're still doing your workouts 3-4 days a week. It's what I plan on doing after I'm done with Round 2 to maintain.

I got a couple of my friends & my brother into P90X. My brother started on the 4th with me. He's excited... and sore! haha

Haha, my girlfriend says the same thing... I try to convince her to do the program with me, but she says she's "too busy" to dedicate herself to the program. Sounds like excuses! LOL
