Hello Everyone! I just got P90x yesterday and I can't wait to get started! I am a Police Officer and decided it was time to cut the doughnuts (just kidding) and get my butt into shape! I also am getting Married in February in the Dominican Republic and wanted to be in my best shape for that. Below is a link to a slide show of my day 1 pictures.
s86.photobucket.com/albums/k98/Crshcours...current=ed50d3e2.pbw I would love some help with the nutrition guide. It seems to be rather overwhelming. Any quick and easy tips / foods people would recommend to get in the best shape of your life? Here goes nothing! BRING IT!!! Thanks!!! |

2 pieces of advice.
1- just do as much as you can during the time they give you for the excersizes. if you have to stop doing pushups midway through and rest for 10 seconds do it. I would rather rest and bust out 6 more than struggle through 1 more. and dont be afraid to do the girly ones at the end of the set. it's ok and its better than just sitting there for the rest of the time. 2- i use the diet plan as a great tool to help me know what foods to eat more of, but the bottom line is i cant stick to diets like these. What i have found works well is still eating the foods you love just eat less of it while eating more healthy snacks. if you go out to eat, right when they bring the food ask for a to go box and dump half of the plate in there. this will literally cut your dinner calories in half. dont ask for the to go box after the first half of the meal is eaten cause then you will sit there waiting for the box picking at the second half and before you know it half the second half is gone. hope it helps, moose |

Thanks for the advice!! I will remember your tips for sure. My fiance and i thought it would be fun to try the ab ripper last night just to see what everything was about before I dove into it. So... I can't move today. (OUCH) haha I will have to take your advice and take rests. I wish I would have known that last night just in the ab ripper because I tried so hard at first but could barely to any more of the program cuz I burnt all of my energy on the first half.
Thanks again!!! |

Ouch, and welcome to P90X lol
I completely agree with moose, though...I would rather call em modified since 'girly' is a bit offensive to those of us women who only modify to get out the last few as you mentioned you do as well. /wink wink Also, take it slooooow. Push pause, it is totally fine. You can go all Alpha and try to kill yourself but that will only discourage you and that's just no fun. -Be prepared for lots of muscle soreness the first week. I thought i was in shape.....take the week off if you can lol -Sip water, but don't guzzle or you might throw-up during your workouts (I also learned this the hard way during day#2 Plyometrics..ugh) -Make sure to have a recovery drink of some kind on-hand. I thought it wasn't really important and learned my lesson by day #5. Either order the recovery drink (which does taste fricking amazing, its like a creamsicle)or make one from the recipes on this site. It does make a difference, and there are many alternatives if you don't want to buy the beachbody one. -Lock down the nutrition side quickly with easy things to grab and eat/drink. You don't want to be staring in the fridge counting the minutes while your stomach roars. Plan ahead, string cheeses, cottage cheese, tuna, if you make any of the soups, make double and freeze, you will appreciate it later. -Cut your veggies when you get them home, measure out your meats to be frozen to the proper portions beforehand etc. -Find a good protein bar you can stick with and try for a discount since you are going to be eating quite a lot of them over the next 3 months.(Some body building stores give '911' discounts, its something to check. -Visit the forums often, sometimes its just to giggle at a silly post, or to click on some of the fantastic 90 day pics of the amazing and motivating people who have graduated. Have fun, keep pushing play, and post often if you need a boost |

I too am a police officer and made the same decision after a ground fighting training class where I got whooped by our rookie. Glad to see you here and hope you stick with it. I am in the middle of week 3 and will post up my 30 day results in a couple of weeks.
