What the true Nutrition Focus is? 2 Months ago Karma: 0
Ok so after reading a little bit from this site and other websites, I have a simple question..

The basic nutrition plan of P90X dissolves to Low-Carb, High Protein Diet? Am I missing something or is that pretty much it, with of course the objective of losing weight and getting toned.

There are 3 phases to the nutrition program, the first is high-protein, low-carb. Phase 2 (Weeks 4-8) has a few more carbs, and a little less protein, and Phase 3 (Weeks 9-13) is higher carb, lower protein.

I was under the impression that you pick the appropriate phase for yourself, as opposed to automatically moving to the next phase at week 4. For example, if you reach the second phase of the workout and you still have fat to lose, you'd stay with the phase one (fat shredder)nutrition. Is that incorrect??

My understanding is that you move to phase 2. No one is supposed to do phase 1 for 90 days, or even 60 days. Moving from phase 2 to phase 3 is where there is more leeway. The added carbs are beneficial because of the increased energy one gets, but you can stay in phase 2 longer. Other people may need to add carbs in phase 1 if they are not getting enough energy to do the workouts, so that those people end up doing "Phase 1.5".

Ok, well in my book it says that "phase one should be should be extended if you need to drop more fat and have ample energy to push through your workout." It seems like different people have differnt books and are getting varying information. I think that is why it is so confusing. I was assuming I'd have to stay in the fat shredder phase for longer than four weeks. I guess I will wait and see. I am only on day 2 Thanks for the info.

Everybody has the same book, it has the same information. It's been 6 weeks since I looked at mine, and so my information evidently is a little off. I don't have that much weight to lose, so the fat shredder information wasn't that important to me. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean you HAVE to stay in Phase 1 because you want to lose more weight. See how it goes and how you feel. Some people have a lot of trouble sticking to the Phase 1 diet, and are relieved to get to Phase 2 so they can add more carbs. People still lose weight even when they go to Phase 2 and 3 of the diet.

Ok, thanks again. I don't have a ton of weight to lose either, maybe 10-15 lbs at best. I mainly want to cut body fat. Ill just take it day by day and see how I do
