What do you eat? 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
This could be a whole book if everyone answers, but I am on day 3 and find that I am eating a lot of the same things over and over again. I am just curious as to what everyone eats.

I am a level 2 in the book so I feel like I am constantly eating to get to 2400 calories a day. Basically, I am looking to mix it up a bit so I don't get bored with the eating before I am even done with my first week.

You know, you can eat the same thing without it even being the same thing. Get creative with your foods and find different things that you enjoy, but aren't repetitive. BBQ chicken or marinate the chicken in somethings else. Throw some chicken in a plate of rice, make a turkey lettuce wrap (one of my favorites), throw on a nice rib-eye and season as to avoid the A1 sauce. Just play around with stuff.

My eating is pretty basic and probably most people wouldn't enjoy it.

Breakfast - Either fat free yogurt or banana/apple.

Snack 1 - Usually veggies but with a snack appeal. Celery with peanut butter, carrots with fat free ranch, etc.

Lunch - I've been toying with turkey lettuce wraps trying to find a healthy, but tasty, sauce. Basically just get a large lettuce leaf, throw some turkey in there, and wrap it up. It's pretty dry with nothing else in there but also very very healthy.

Snack 2 - Pistachios or string cheese. I never knew string cheese was good for you, but it was recommended in the nutrition guide and I've been eating the stuff since I was a kid.

Dinner - This is where I try to get at least a little creative. The majority of my dinners consist of chicken, but I like to throw some steak or tuna in there every now and again. My last dinner was just a normal grilled chicken that i chopped up and mixed in with a plate of brown rice and green beans and threw in a little soy sauce for flavor. Be careful with soy sauce though, as it has high levels of sodium, but is said to help blood flow and fights heart disease and cancer.

That's a pretty vague example of my daily eating, but it should help get you started.

I actually already had what I eat typed up...trying to get my bro to do P90X...so here is mine...I'm a VEGETARIAN, so you can replace my protein with something else...

wake up- Whey prot and 8oz of water (1 prot)

work out

pre-work out: Egg whites (1 prot), 1/2 c cottage cheese (1 dairy) and an apple (1 fruit) cut up in it. 1/4 cup of dry oatmeal, tsp of psyllium husk, few drops of liquid stevia, tsp of grind flaxseed (1 fat) and just FEW raisins. Microwave. I actually don't even count this as anything (the oatmeal or raisins), since it is a sml amount but it really keeps me full and pack with fiber!
******* Psyllium husk? Well it' s an all natural fiber. It's like the crap they sell at the grocery store, but it's not full of filler. You can add it to stuff or blend in a protein shake. STEVIA is the greatest thing ever. It's an all-natural calorie free sugar. So it's like Splenda, but it's not full of cancer causing chemicals. It comes in liquid or packets. I like the liquid and it's real sweet so you only need a few drops. It's awesome!!!!!!

Lunch: Veggie burger (1 prot) in a lettuce wrap. I suggest anything that Amy's makes if you want to try some veggie stuff. Ketchup. 1 c of nonfat plain yogurt (1 dairy) with 1 full scope of protein powder mixed with it...it's yummy(1 prot).

I have a string cheese (1 snack) at some point and 8 oz of veggie juice (1 veggie)...Henry's Markert makes un-tomatoe kind...I can't stand V8.

Dinner: some type of prot, 3/4c of whole wheat couscous (1 carb-don't do a full cup to make up for the little bit of oatmeal I have in the morning), and 2 veggie. Prob some soy sauce.

at some point I have a frozen fruit bar (1 snack) and another protein shake (1 prot) with 8 oz of water. I try not to eat 3 hrs before bed like they suggest...but some days sh*t happens...and it doesn't work out that way!

Multi vitamin and I have been trying to drink 3 of my 32oz hard plastic water bottles (96oz total). Oh and I mix 6oz of water/stevia/2 tbs of organic apple cider vinegar...it's good for the liver and helps rid the body of toxins.

This works for me and it's easy to make a protein shake anywhere. But you just have to play around with it and figure what works for you.
GOOD LUCK!

I have been playing around with some of the recipes. The chicken salad so far is my favorite. I will often use a protein shake for breakfast as I am not a big breakfast eater and got tired of eggs. If you look as the portion approach, it shows a lot you can choose for example, turkey bacon for protein, waffles (wheat) etc. I think the key is portions and ingredents. Here in WA we have Trader Joes. A lot of their stuff is organic and less processed. Not badly priced either. Remember you can have lean red meat such as sirloin. I found one at Fred Meyer that is marinated in a burgandy sauce and oh soo good, low fat too.

I eat tons of egg whites, hummas (Chick peas) as a dip to my veggies, fruits, brown rice. That's pretty much it.

For protein, I like a couple eggs here and there, sometimes I use two eggs with an extra egg white (so not to add an extra 5grams fat with another yolk).

A slice of avacado every couple of days for vitamins.

I'm a level 3 eater...I'm supposed to hit 3,000 calories, I hit roughly 2850-2900 if I eat everything, this is my days eating, everyday...

Breakfast: Protein:2 Dairy:3 Vegetable:1 Fruit:1
-Level 3 Mushroom Omelet (10 Whites, 1 Cup Mushroom, 1/2 Roma Tomato, 4oz Fat Free Cheddar Cheese).
-1 Cup FF Plain Yogurt
-1 Cup Blueberries mixed in the Yogurt

Snack #1: Double Snacks:2 Protein:1
-1oz Almonds (22 whole kernels)
-3oz Tuna
-2oz String Cheese

Lunch: Protein:2 Vegetable:2
-5oz Chicken Breast
-2 Cups Vegetable Soup from the book

Carbs:1 Fruit:1 Dairy:1 Protein:1 Fats:1
Snack #2 / Pre-Workout meal:
-1 Cup Oats
-8oz Soy Milk
-1 Medium apple
-1 TBSP Flax Oil
-1 Scoop Whey protein powder
**I throw all of the above into a tupperware container and eat it at work as oatmeal an hour before my workout**

Recovery Drink/Bar: 1
Post Workout: Torrent (recovery drink)

Protein:3 Vegetable:1
Dinner:
-9oz Chicken Breast
-1 Serving vegetable, generally a steamed zucchini

The above was made with the portion approach, I just used the omelet and vegetable soup recipe & take the portions that they give out of my totals. This can be edited by varying the size of meats, amounts, etc. to fit any of the phases & makes for a decent variety of food. Then again, I don't mind eating the same thing day in and day out.
