Been reading a few articles on the interweb lately about sugars and how much is too much. Every thing i read has the numbers around 40 to never more than 100g per day based on a 2000cal/day diet...

How does that work? I eat very clean(no junk, very lean chicken and lots of fish, tons of fruits and salads) and according to my diet tracker i am almost always in the 150-200 grams of sugar per day...? What gives? A banana has 25 grams, skim milk has 10grams? Should i really cut down on the fruit? I am not trying to lose weight either.

Lots of people get confused about this, on one hand we are told to eat plenty of fruit and vegetables, then we are told to cut out all sugars.

But really the sugars you have to really watch out for are the highly refined, processed sugars as these sugars are the ones which cause a huge spike in blood insulin levels which encourage your body to store the excessive energy as fat.

The sugars in almost all fruit is a fructose sugar and this type of sugar doesn't cause your body to spill out a massive does of insulin as does sucrose (processed sugar).

Also with fruit your also getting a whole range of vitamins and minerals as well as a good dose of fibre.

So really you really have to weigh up all the benefits (good aspects) of the food your eating against the bad points.

In my opinion fresh fruit is pretty much a perfect high nutrient value food source so I wouldn't be to worried that your eating too much.

Aye, the problem with sugar is we eat too much refined. Find me a fat vegan. To the best of my knowledge they don't exist and yet half their diet is food loaded with natural sugar.

You'll never get fat eating fresh fruit. It's only when you add "natural syrup" to it that the processed sugar gets in and they become unhealthy. Plus, fresh fruit is loaded with fiber that helps your digestion and will further help your weight loss.

Eat as much fruit as you want, you will not gain weight from fruit, you'll gain weight from KFC & Captain Crunch. It's as simple as that. Continue doing what your'e doing.

The only different thing I would do, is if you are in phase 1 and you're doing the low carb thing, replace 2 of your fruit servings with a protein bar or protein shake. If you do everything else the same, you should hit the numbers you're seeking.

I'm on my 4th fruit of the day and it's just past noon. Without fruit I'd be miserably tired.

This is a touchy subject, but a good question. You say you eat fish and chicken, but the fact is that there are sugar in those foods as well (unless you eat organic). You will actually find white sugar in more products you ever could dream about. If you order a steak at the restaurant there will be sugar in the steak as well. If you wanna cut down on your overall sugar intake, chance some fruits with vegetables. Good luck.www.weightloss-hq.biz/components/com_kun.../emoticons/smile.png
