Hi,

1) I`ve been doing Level 2 (2400 calories) during Phase 1 of the P90x nutrition plan. I am about to change from Phase 1 to Phase 2. As far as my weight has come down during this last month... should I switch to level 1 when I start Phase 2 (because my RMR is now at a new calorie range - the 1800 calorie range) ??

2) One more question.... If I decide to extend Phase I (high protein) for a week or 2 more (that would be 5 or 6 weeks total)... how long should I stay then on Phase 2 till I change to Phase 3? (cause as far as I extend one Phase I cut down another one....)

Thanks !!

Hey Miki,

As far as I know, if you drop into a different nutrition level during P90X, then you should also change your calories accordingly. So if I were you, then yes, I would switch from level 2 to level 1.

As to extending Phase 1, that is completely fine to do. If you feel like you have some unnecessary fat to burn off and plenty of energy throughout the day and during the workouts, then you can extend. But if you ever feel like you are bonking, dragging, or need extra energy, then you should start introducing more carbs into your diet and move on to phase 2. I believe they recommend that you don't stay in the Phase 1 nutrition plan for more than 5 or 6 weeks.

As for switching from Phase 2 to Phase 3, I think that is a little more personal preference. I believe the majority of people stay in Phase 2 for the entire time and never even go on to Phase 3. So I would say that if you're in Phase 2, are happy with your fitness level, but feel like you need even more energy for the workouts, then move on to Phase 3.

i remember reading Phase 3 can be optional. i dont have the book in front of me so i can't verify, but i remember reading it. phase 2 is a good place to stay, as it is 40%/40%/20%- protein/carbs/fat.
