Hey all--I felt like doing a little community service project today regarding the wonderful food known as ground turkey. If you haven't made it part of your regular grocery shopping, I highly recommend it. Not only is ground turkey high in protein and very lean, it is also extremely versatile and very tasty! You can make it into all sorts of yummy recipes, many of which make excellent left-overs and are easy to eat on the go.
Here's some of my favorite dishes to make with ground turkey:
Burrito Meat: Just cook it up with store bought (or even better--home made) taco seasoning mix, and use it as filler for a burrito, wrap, or even a taco salad.
Turkey Burgers: There's TONS of different recipes of really yummy turkey burgers you can make. My current favorite is a spinach and feta turkey burger. These can be grilled or baked, and slapped between some whole wheat buns (or just regular bread) make a quick meal.
Turkey Meatloaf / Meatballs: Lots of recipes for these too! Loafs can make up the protein part of a great dinner, and you can even add whole oats into the mixture to provide some high quality carbs. Meatballs can go into a healthy sauce and put on whole-grain pasta and then saved for easy leftovers.
Turkey Sausage: Yup, throw in the right spices, and you can even make some great sausage patties to go with breakfast. Sometimes you can even buy it already made at the store. A whole lot better for you than regular sausage, and a whole lot tastier than that soy sausage stuff!
Well, that's all for now. But again, if you aren't already using ground turkey as part of your diet, I highly recommend it.
Bon apetite!
