Grams of Protein powder per Tbspn? help! 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 1
Hey all,
my question has to do with how many grams typically of protein powder are in a table spoon. I didn't get a scoop with my tub, so I add my protein powder with a table spoon. I'm supposed to be taking anywhere from 13 to 25 grams of protein powder calculated at 0.2g or 0.4g of protein per kg of lean muscle.

Anyway, I just wanted to know if anyone could help me calculate this or just estimate it. What are your thoughts? How many grams of protein powder are typically in a table spoon? How many table spoons should I be taking then?

Thanks a lot if you can help! I know it's kind of a weird question, but it's been bugging me a little.

Cheers!

Hard to do the conversion without knowing what the exact serving size is of your protein or how many grams of protein there are per serving. That being said, most protein powders (if it's just straight whey protein and nothing too fancy) have a serving size of about 1/3 cup. There are 16 Tablespoons per cup, so you're looking at 5.3 Tablespoons to equal a one "scoop" serving.

A common amount of protein per serving is usually around 20 grams, so running the math, you're looking at 20 / 5.3 = 3.77 grams of protein per Tablespoon.

Your mileage may vary

Haha, I was looking this topic up on other forums and one guy suggested to prod around my tub with a butter knife to see if there was a scoop that came with it, and surely enough there was! It was just burried under my powder... Ah the things I do...
