water mixin's on P90X? 1 Year, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
So I am starting tomorrow, and cutting my diet soda habit out, I will switch to water mostly. Are the water mixin's ok? Like the ones from Crystal Light etc? If these are not ok, does anyone know any that are ok to use on p90x?

I used to be addicted to the stuff that you mix in to make your water taste like kool-aid or lemonade or whatever. Then I started getting serious, and looked into what I was putting into my body. The stuff is all chemicals. Not really what you want to do if you're trying to change to a healthy lifestyle.

Moreover, there's some research that suggests that the artificial flavorings actually cause your body to react in the same manner as if you were eating sugar. More of some enzyme or something is released that basically results in fat storage.

If you MUST have flavoring in the water, squeeze some lemon juice in. Not the same, I know, but better than the chemicals.

I believe the artificial stuff (Splenda, etc..) actually promotes your body to want sugar even more, so it creates more of a craving for the real thing. I personally have to have coffee so I usually mix in one splenda with a cup of coffee, but I really wouldn't trust those juices, anything that's not natural don't put in your body.

About a year ago, my weight had plateaued, and I couldn't figure out why I was stuck there. What I was doing differently than before was drinking a Coke Zero every day. When I stopped drinking that, I was able to move past my plateau. The diet sodas tell your brain that you are eating something sweet, and you'll still have cravings. Plus the aspartame is NOT GOOD FOR YOU! How about diluted juice? Pour in 1/4 a glass of juice, then add water. Of course, a squeezed lemon is the best.

For a sweetener I use Stevia in my tea. It's a natural product, and I haven't heard any bad stuff about it yet.

I agree with the others...dump the artificial sweetners. Splenda is created with sugar and Chlorine....sounds yummy doesn't it.
