Supplement Question... 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 1
hey everyone!

I am 5'11, 165-170 and i have played hockey/baseball all my life. i am pretty athletic, but i've never had that perfect 6 pack or whatever.. so that's my goal. most of my weight i want to loose is in my stomach and just tone up everywhere else.

what supplements would you recommend?
would whey protein be the right thing for me? creatine?

i am a little clueless on this one, so any help is greatly appreciated!

cheers,

tom

If you're interested in building all around muscle then creatine and whey protein would be the thing for you, but from what I understand you want a six pack and that requires more fat loss than muscle build. I would try hydroxycut hardcore and a LOT of cardio. Be sure to keep up with your abdominal workouts and a healthy diet as well.

hydroxycut hardcore? i have always been skeptical about pills... when you stop taking them, doesn't your metabolism just like stop?

also, i was reading about hydroxycut hardcore on the bodybuilding.com forums and most people say it basically just gives you more energy. if you are naturally an energetic person and can work hard whenever, its not necessary. whats your two cents

I'm not sure about Hydroxycut Hardcore... honestly never heard of that. But I have gone through a couple of bottles of regular Hydroxycut (not consecutively). The first bottle I took as directed (1 pill 3x daily for the first 4 days, then 2 pills 3x daily after that). It made me feel really weird and on edge all the time, kind of how I would imagine a coke user would feel. I also noticed it was making me look really tired in my face. I did however lose about 8 lbs but to me feeling like that wasn't worth it.

I bought a second bottle several weeks ago just as a little kick start for Spring-Summer. I decided to back it off a bit (1 pill 4x daily) and see how effective it would be. I don't feel edgy at all now, but the weight isn't coming off, and my appetite hasn't diminished at all. I've got a few more days worth of pills left, but since I'm starting P90X on 5/26, I'll just finish out the bottle and stick to the recommended supplements.

Just my 2 cents.

Hydroxycut Hardcore does way more than give you energy, believe me. I'm not sure exactly who, but I know there are professional body builders that use hydroxycut hardcore to shred fat before a competition. However, it doesn't work for EVERYBODY, so some people may see different results. I can honestly say that the pills worked numbers for me. Just have to use them as directed.

And to the poster above me --

Did it tell you to eat exactly 30 minutes after consuming pills and to drink a LOT of water? And if so, did you? What you described sounds to me like the symptoms of hydroxycut hardcore if you don't follow the instructions EXACTLY as they say. When I took the pills I ate on time, drank my water, and took the pills 5 hours prior to going to sleep and I never felt any discomfort except for having to use the restroom a lot from the water.

Coy, yep, I actually did follow the directions to a "T". Could be the fact that was my first experience ever taking any kind of diet pill. As I mentioned, my second bottle which I started several months later didn't affect me quite so adversely. Could have been the reduced dosage, could have been that my body had acclimated itself, could be a little of both.

I'm not trying to bash Hydroxycut, just sharing my experience. I'm sure it has helped a lot of people reach their goals.

Its weird. I read a ton of reviews about hydroxycut hardcore and it seems like the views on it were evenly split. I guess it all just depends on your body when it all comes down to it.

Whenever I have taken a supplement...I don't take as directed (as in several times a day). I just take them once about 30 min before I'm about to work out for some extra energy. That always worked for me...instead of taking them am, mid day, etc as some of them direct. I find no bad side effects and it's cheaper

I bought a bottle of just straight up caffeine pills from bodybuilding.com for like $5 (100 pills). I don't like coffee, but I know a lot of ol' school gym rats that swear by drinking a cup of black coffee before they work out for the caffeine. I take one pill before I work out instead and I'm good...they work better for me than the $50 bottle stuff! Most those supplements have caffeine in them anyway(that's why a lot of people get jittery or if taken too late in the day can't sleep).

The down fall about supplements is the FDA doesn't look over any of that...meaning they can print whatever they want on the label and no one really holds them to it. I agree with Coy though, I know several people who have taken HC or Lipo-6 and really liked it. But everyone is different...and if you have high bld pressure, kidney, liver or heart problems I wouldn't take anything. If you don't need a supplement, save your money and go all natural. Less for the kidneys and liver to process!

Best of luck!
