No yolks? 8 Months ago Karma: 0
Why do I have to wear out the egg separator when I make my ginormous omelet in the mornings? What's wrong with the yolks? The omelet was edible, but it was missing something. Probably the high-fat sausage and yolky eggs I've been used to. lol

Thanks!

Too be honest, I skipped over the egg whites and went to EggBeaters. I know, I know, there is more protein per serving of egg whites, but whole eggs were out of the question. So in the end, man oh man, it was EggBeaters or no eggs at all. I agree, just egg whites, always leave me a little bored, queasy and unable to finish the serving.

Nutrition wise, all the fat is in the yolk which = undesirable.

If you can, you may want to try an eggbeaters or similar product, just make sure its got all the Omega's and good cholesterol and none of the saturated fats. If you are in Canada, look for the 'Heart and Stroke' check mark, those are the ones I get. (this may also be on the American ones, but seeing as how I am not grocery shopping in the U.S. I am not sure

Good luck!!

Yes, you described my feelings exactly! I really did feel a little queasy during breakfast. My poor boyfriend pushed his plate away and dove into the cashews. I didn't realize all the fat was in the yolks - probably why it's the best tasting part of the egg!

I will certainly try eggbeaters, thanks for the tip.

I'm going the egg beaters route too. Seperating eggs is too messy. My 1 cent: Adding a slice of ham or any other meat of choice though really helps make it tastier (maybe its the salt) but also adds a little more protein.

You can buy Egg Whites by themselves the same way you would egg beaters. Here is what I do and I love it:

Two pieces whole wheat toast.
2 or 3 servings of egg whites.
2 pieces of turkey bacon.
1 oz low fat cheese, shredded.

Makes a fine sandwich and you don't even really notice the egg whites with the cheese and bacon in there!

I've been mixing in a cup of diced green pepper to my egg scramble (6 egg whites) and eating with 2 slices of turkey bacon. Takes care of 2 protein and 1 veggy for the day. But yea ham sounds better- they didn't have low-fat ham at my wholesale club so I need to check the grocer.

BTW turkey bacon is awesome! I actually prefer it over regular greasy bacon. Every time I hear bacon I'm reminded of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaK9bjLy3v4

Re:No yolks? 8 Months ago Karma: 0
i agree with you guys as well i cant stand the egg whites so what i did to use egg whites as well as whole egg is use the egg beaters and the egg whites, this is our morning omelet

4 servings of egg beaters mixed with 4 servings of egg whites = 2 protein
3 oz ham = 1 protein
1 oz shredded cheese= 1 dairy
1 cup mushrooms = 1 veggie

i fry the mushrooms and ham up first so they get a crispier taste and its awesome i hated it at first but once i started experimenting with the different things to put in it its tasting a lot better. we are on day 12 now and weve been havng that every morning so far. hope that helps
also i read somewhere that i whole egg or serving of egg beater equals to 2 egg whites.

THIS SOUNDS AWESOME!!! I'm not a fan of tomato but it might give it the kick it needs or maybe replace the tomato with some onions... mmmm!!!

All of the newest research is showing that the whole egg is better for you. They have now taken all the limitations off of eggs. Sorry. I am going to eat the whole egg. The Yolk is where most of the fat is that is true, but it is good fat. The yolk is also where all the good muscle building nutrients are.

I gotta agree about the salsa being the key. That makes it almost delicious even tho I prob pour on more than I should.

I just started this egg white thing... How do you separate the yolk? I bought a mini handheld strainer at target and it didnt do crap... I'm stuck just bouncing the yolk back and forth between the shell halves. Its annoying and time consuming.

I've always lived on ham & egg sandwiches for breakfast. What type of ham are people buying? When I go to the grocery store all the ham I see is incredibly high in sodium and I never find fat free ham as we're supposed to (I thought)

Deputy95,

Hey Deputy95 can you provide a link that shows that? I looked it up and all signs point to having a whole egg maybe 1-3 times a week but not daily. Also the protein in my opinion would be the best reason to have eggs. For the omega 3 and vitamins a multivitamin pill can do the same and spare you the cholesterol. Considering with the diet the program gives eating 4 egg whites cuts out 2 protein portions. If you make that 4 eggs you're going to be asking for a heart attack in a month.

Outlaw,
I just break the egg into a bowl and with a spoon just scoop up the yolk. Let any excess white portion slip off and dump the yolk easy as pie! If you want to avoid wasting yolks you can buy egg whites. They come in little cartons and usually have 8 servings per carton. If you eat 4 servings for breakfast like i do to get 2 protein portions out of he way, thats one carton every two days. The carton is worth $5 so that can be a little expensive so I think getting the carton might be more economic for you. Hope it helps =)
