Fruits?!? 3 Months ago Karma: 0
FRUITS?!? What's the deal with these things? I've been trying to include them in my diet. I like apples, grapes and watermelon. I noticed that they have little to no protein but have carbs and some sugar.

Am I ok including them?

Absolutely--it's part of the nutrition plan! In addition to carbs / sugars, they also have loads of good vitamins and antioxidants. Now, don't go eating a half a watermelon in one sitting, but you should definitely make sure to keep fruits as part of your diet.

Just curious, but what nutrition plan are you using? Portion approach? Meal approach? Whatever's in your fridge approach?

Well be very very very careful! Fruits do contain a lot of good stuff but they do not contain a little sugar... They contain a lot of sugar considering how small they are! Fruit juices are the worse because like half a cup and you drank one serving with alot of sugars!

There is only one fruit I eat and it has hardly anything. That is watermelon! It is exactly what it says, water. You could eat 1/4 of a watermelon and thats about two servings! Plus you just hydrated your body and it has less sugar than most fruits.

i looooooooooove fruits!!! i just stay away from bananas after this one guy (a Bally's trainer) told me i was eating too many bananas for my size...(i'm petite) i thought potassium was all i needed but apparently they also make you fat if you eat them everyday. (for me anyway)

anyhow...anything w/ berry is a great choice...and they tend to be more expensive too. (>_<
but strawberries have really low calories for it's size and blueberries and raspberries are just fantastic for everything!
and the above comment about watermelon is true too...AND they are great frozen so that's an icecream for you!

good luck and dont shy away from fruits! but dont have too much at night!

You were miss-informed! Bananas are one of the healthiest things you can eat. They are very rich in B6, which is a water soluble (Won't store if your body.) Potassium promotes sodium purge and a healthy electrolyte system. They do have carbs and fiber but you would have to eat ALOT for it to affect you. Plus they are filling so if you are between meals and hungry. Eat half a banana or even a full one. Just adjust your meal accordingly
