Enough Fiber?? 1 Year, 2 Months ago Karma: 4
I'm a level III on the nutrition and I'm doing the portion plan. It calls for one block of carbs and each day I eat a sandwich with 2 slices of whole grain bread. I know there is fiber in the vegetables and other foods that I eat, but I still don't feel like I'm getting enough. Is anyone doing any type of fiber suppliments like metamucil? I'm following the portion plan to the letter, but I really would like to pull in some extra fiber without messing up the fat shredder phase. Should I suck it up for the month and wait until the 2nd phase to increase my fiber? I'm currently in week 2 right now.

I wondered about that too, but I've been doing fine with the carb serving and eating my green veggies. Here's a suggestion: Thomas's makes an english muffin that's whole grain, 100 calories and each one has 8 grams of fiber (a lot!). Since two of these count as one carb serving, there's 16g of fiber a day, not including what I'm getting from the veggies.

Thanks for the tip. I'm really tempted to throw in a bowl of Fiber One cereal. One bowl of that stuff gets you half the fiber you need in a day. I know they also have the whole grain bread with extra fiber... I will have to see which one offers more and go with that option.

I use a fiber supplement called "Colonix", so I haven't noticed any problems. I also make sure I drink LOTS OF WATER.

I have used that product before and it worked great!! I don't have the bottle anymore. Is there a substantial carb count in that fiber powder? I'm trying to avoid going over my alloted 1 block of carbs for the first phase.

I decided I need the product no matter what, so I just ignored what the carbs were. The website shows Carbs 10g, Fiber 8g. I still had my tiny bowl of oatmeal for breakfast.

I use BeneFiber. 3g Fiber, 4g Carbs. I take two servings a day, one in my protein shake in the morning and one in a cup of decaf coffee in the evening with a little creamer (my snack for the day). There is no taste and it mixes well in liquid, although better in hot liquid, hence the coffee.

I take a lot of protein to support my workouts so I need to have fiber. If you take a lot of protein and don't get enough fiber... well, let's just say you will have an extra workout routine!

LOL! And if your system is not running "smoothly", your numbers on the scale will not be as good as they could be.

You might want to check out King Arthur Hi Maize corn meal. I basically add 1.5 tablespoons right to my protein shake and mix it all up in a blender with ice and a banana. The flour has no apparent taste or odor, but its fiber and starch properties are amazing. IMHO, of course.
