Protein shake if I'm eating a meal? 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Well, up until recently, my schedule was:
9:00am wake up
9:15 drink 1/2 a Myoplex Lite shake (See Nutrition info http://www.thedailyplate.com/nutrition-calories/food/eas/myoplex-lite-shake)
10:00 work out
11:15 (or whenever I finish) drink the rest of my Myoplex Lite shake
12:00 Lunch

But recently, when I ran out of my Myoplex Lite supply, I bought just a normal whey supplement thinking it might be cleaner (Nectar Whey). But now I have no idea how/when to drink it. Should I... drink it when I wake up? Or after the work out? Should I even bother with it if I'm going to each lunch within 45 minutes of finishing my workout? I wish there were a way to spread it out before and after like my Myoplex shake, but it just doesn't have the same amount of volume/isn't as filling. I'm almost thinking about switching back to Myoplex Lite except that I don't have the money and enough people here seem to swear by whey that I feel like there must be... something to it.

I'm totally lost on this supplement thing, and could use any advice I can get. Thanks!

Oh, for reference, I'm female, 5'3" and ~130 lbs. I think that I don't want to do two whey shakes a day because I'm already eating plenty of protein (chicken, fish, cottage cheese, etc) and I don't want to overload on protein...

The protein supplement is not a meal replacement therefore I drink two per day at pretty much any time. I usually have one after breakfast and another when I get home from work. The bottom line is to make sure you get enough protein in your body each day....when is not a big deal. What is a bigger deal is to have a recovery drink and/or good meal AFTER your workout (within the hour). This is when your body needs to replenish in energy and nutrients.
