Has anyone read "The Primal Blueprint" by Mark Sisson and used it with P90X? If I'm not mistaken, he was involved in the creation of the Recover Drink. His whole thing is a high protein, high fat, low carb diet made of meat, nuts, veggies, and some fruits. I wondered if anyone has used it successfully with P90X. Thanks all.

It sounds pretty solid and Sisson is probably a trustable source. That plan sounds similar to Phase 1 or the P90X plan.

Well you can't really complain about a diet that calls for lots of meat, veggies, and fruits, but how much fat are we talking about here? I'm not entirely sure why he would stress fat over carbs, as fat burns slower and isn't as effective as a source for energy, which is important with the intense P90X routines.

Then again, I believe Tony Horton is good friends with Mark Sisson, so I doubt he would complain.

I DO NOT AGREE with Mark Sisson. Have you seen the dude? He's a skinny bag of bones with NO muscle on his body... He's distanced himself from the recovery drink and beach body in general, since creating it. He's basically promoting the Atkins diet to people again. High fat, High Protein, Low Carbs... it's not healthy. He talks about going back to how people ate before technology back in the caveman days. It's complete BS, because veggies & carbohydrates existed back then as well, and it's stupid to think that people didn't eat fruit or veggies back then too.

I think it's unrealistic to eliminate any kind of grain for the rest of your life, and I honestly don't think it's healthy at all.

If you wanted to get ripped, would you take the advice of a skinny, frail, worthless shell of a man?

That's pretty harsh Austin...

I just gotta say I don't see any reason to go away from the p90X diet since it's geared for this. Once you hit phase 2 and 3 you are going to want a lot more carbs so this diet might not be as viable during those periods. I also agree with what Stoja said though.. I mean honestly if I have a choice between having a few more carbs or more fat I am going to choose carbs each and every time. Carbs want to be burned. Fat wants to linger and stick to everything.

It's ultimately your choice just weigh all the options.

I read on this a little myself, supposedly with the high fat low carb diet your body uses the fat as it would the carbs,so in theory it burns fat faster.I dunno though i don't really even like looking at the dude after my workouts when he downplays gatorade lol,but that's just me.The article i read though was by a diff guy not Mark. The guy i read on is into the whole warrior diet fasting stuff that sounds like bs to me.
