TOPIC: Nuts

The nutrition plan allows for almonds or pistachios as a snack which I love, but I notice that nuts are very high in fat. I bought these 100 calorie snack pack of almonds but they have 9g of fat in one pack.
This seems like a lot of fat grams for one little snack. Is the fat in nuts better than the fat in other snack items (only talking about regular fat, not trans or saturated) and if it is why is this the case? Thanks for the help. |

Almonds are extremely good for you.
Great source of protein and fiber. This combination helps quench hunger. Great source of minerals. Great source of arginine. ALso it has the ability to make you feel full. Almonds reduce high blood pressure and cholesterol too. Keep in mind fat is not bad for you. It's the type of fats you consume. And almonds contain very healthy fats -- monounsaturated, which is very beneficial. The good, unsaturated fat found in almonds - mono- and polyunsaturated -can lower your blood cholesterol along with the risk for heart disease. |

Mono-saturated fat is so good for you! Don't worry about that fat content.
For people on a budget, I recommend buying almonds in bulk and packing single sized servings in zip lock bags. |
