Hello Everyone,

Ok well I hope you didn't come in here looking for a mix recipe, because that's what I'm hoping one of you can tell me

I'm tired of buying the pre-mixed stuff and want a more targeted approach to my shakes. I have posted here a few times but I will give you my goals and current results one more time.

I am male, 5' 9", 139 lbs, VERY FAST metabolism, and doing the 3rd week of P90X classic. I am looking to gain as much weight/muscle as possible as it is very hard for me to do so. I have been taking GNC Mass XXX with about 750 calories around 3 times a day. Equaling to about 90 - 100g of protein and about 1800 calories (sometimes I do 4 scoops sometimes 3 and sometimes 2.5)

I want to just buy the key components for making a better shake. I know I need creatine, and gulatime, but what other things should i get and how much of them should i include in my drinks?

for my recovery drink I'm currently taking CellMass by NGS or NSG or something like that. It doesn't say if it is a true 4:1 recovery drink, but it says it is specifically for recovery. But, once again, I want to make a more targeted drink for myself. So, what would you do here?

I ran out of the protein shakes today, so I need to buy the stuff tonight. Anyone have any ideas or insight for me ?

Firstly P90X is more for cutting then bulking. People on this forum seem to like Low-fat Chocolate Milk as a post workout shake, maybe put in a little whey.

Personally my postworkout shake is:
1 Scoop Whey protein
1 Banana
1 TBPS of Peanut Butter

Although I am mesomorphic.

I'd suggest googling for shake recipes for your build (ectomorph)

Berry Good Shake

Ingredients:

* Mix 2 scoops of Berry 100% Whey Power or other protein with
* 4 strawberries
* 15 blueberries
* 16 ounces of nonfat milk
* 1.2 cup of ice cubes.

Protein-Carb Almond Blast

Ingredients:

* Mix 2 Scoops of Vanilla MyoMax Meal or other protein with
* 10-12 oz of skim milk
* 1.2 cup of dry oatmeal
* 1.2 cup of raisins
* 12 shredded almonds
* 1 tbsp of peanut butter.

Peoples body types DO vary, so I'd suggest finding one which works for you.

Wow, didn't know they had a name for me. hahaha

I have read a few things on my body type so far and a lot of it is totally true. I will be looking into this further before pruchasing the rest of my weight gain materials.

I know P90X is for people looking to lose weight, but I figure with heavy weights, low reps, and eating tons plus weight gainer and good supplements I shouldn't have any trouble gaining the muscle mass plus weight.

It's probably more expensive, but have you tried eating more FOOD? Not just weight gainer and whey?

Your body will probably absorb the food better than the protein shakes. Plus it's more natural. Maybe eat 5 or 6 full meals instead of 3 full meals and 2 or 3 small meals?

I would love to be able to do this, but I have a very hard job that requires full attention at all times. I can only take an hour lunch and even then its hard to get the full hour. So, I have my shake in the morning, then eat a bagel with creme cheese for breakfast then eat lunch, then eat a cliff bar, then get home and eat another protein shake an hour before workout, then recovery drink right after, then another protein shake and then dinner.

So, I'm sure it would be better for me to eat more food. Its just not possible for me to do that with my job. But, I do my best to eat as much as I can on a daily basis to help get natural calories into my system.

On a side note, I just went out and bought the following . .

GNC Creatine (5g per teaspoon0
GNC Glutamine (5g per teaspoon)
ISOPURE Whey Protein (50g protein for every 2 scoops.)

This ISOPURE stuff is amazing! I no longer have a heavy drink to drink, but I get the same amount of protein as the GNX Mass XXX but with barely any carbs and it tastes great! So here's what I'm doing now . . tell me if you think it would be good.

2 scoops of ISOPURE + 1 teaspoon of creatine and glutamine + 5 strawberries + water or milk in the morning

then I take the 1 scoop ISOPURE with half a teaspoon of creatine and glutamine an hour before workout.

Then I use my CellMASS right after workout, with a little bit of both the creatine and glutamine and protein (by little bit I mean like 1/4 for glutamine and creatine, and then 1/2 scoop of the protein.)

I then eat my dinner an hour after.

I am also drinking around 2Liters of water a dayand taking multi-vitamins as well.

I really can't comment on all the supplements. I use whey protein too, but I don't worry about all of the extra stuff. I know ISOPURE is good, I've used it before.

I dont think you're drinking enough water. You're taking a TON of supplements and vitamins, you need to be drinking A LOT more water. Shoot for 4 liters (that's like 120 oz.) Maybe even more.

I have found keeping myself hydrated really helps with muscle soreness too.
