TOPIC: Need help with the diet

I've always been in pretty good shape and never really had to eat right to stay in shape and keep the fat off but once i got out of the military it was the first time in my life i wasnt active and i gained some weight. Since i never had to eat right and just ate whatever i wanted the whole diet thing is a blur to me. I'm 5'11" and 205 but im normaily around 185 or 190 and it says i need to be at phase III and eat 3000 calories which seems like a bunch. I'm also trying to make the diet as simple as possible and as cheap as possible by eating the same food every week and throwing in a meal replacement shake for lunch. Can anyone help me out and kind of give me a direction on if this is a good idea. If i make my own diet that may not be to a T of the phase III diet will i still get good results.

3000 try about 2600 and see how you feel. Usually people stay a little lower than what it recommends. Also protein bars and good to eat, protein shakes, egg white omelets, bananas, apples, low fat meats, chocolate milk for a recovery drink, strawberries.. Just check out the nutrition booklet and you will find some other things.. Good luck!

Yeah me too, I hate counting calories...
This is the start of my third month, at the beginning of my first month I weighed in at 260 lbs at 6'0.. This morning I weighed myself at 225 lb's, I think a pretty good achievement without counting calories.. Basically I just ate healthy, and my only cheat "meal" was alcohol which I drank once or twice a week.. My breakfast consists of 4 eggs (Not whites), a peace of whole wheat bread and maybe lite sour cream with coffee.. Almonds, or fruit for snack (Before lunch and after lunch) Lunch is usually chicken and veggies boiled, sometimes fish and veggies, etc.. etc.. Just gotta mix it up fruit/ greek yogurt as snack (damn yogurt is $5 though).. And dinner usually consists again of steak, fish, shrimp, or chicken.. And I still can't believe I haven't had any chocolate in 3 months! And still no desire after seeing the results I'm experiencing.. |

They are high in fat and terrible for your cholesterol levels. I treat myself to whole eggs every once in a while but for the most part I stick to 4 egg whites every morning. |

I'm just having a rought time putting together a diet that fits for me. i'm such a picky eater that i'm having trouble putting something together. I'm not going to follow the full diet because i can't afford the energy lost with a high protein diet since i work nights but im following it as a guide on healthier things to eat and ways to eat
