I'm 5"6 and weigh 220 pounds but I'm built bulky (muscle underneath the fat). How much calories should I be taking in daily? I'm in my 3rd week and the only thing I'm paying attention to is having a higher protein intake than carbs. My goal is to lose 40 pounds in 90 days.

I eat 5 times a day:
Egg whites and rice in the morning
Exercise
Protein shake and juice
grilled chicken and vegetables
protein shake
grilled chicken only

I guess this is about 2,500 calories

Hard to say based on how active you. I suggest you google weight loss calculators. They will give you a good estimate based on age, activity etc etc

By the way how are you getting 2500 calories by just eating the menu you posted. Must be a lot of chicken

I was just guessing it's 2500 cals cause sometimes I'll eat an apple or banana as a snack. This was my bodybuilding diet 3 years ago except of course I ate more carbs back then.

I've been pretty active since march. Road my bike to school which is a 4 hour commute back and forth. Lost a little bit of weight even when I didn't eat right. I'm on my 3rd week of P90X and I do the program everyday including the stretching or yoga x on day 7. So everyday I exercise.

I hope I can lose 30-40 pounds of fat with limited muscle loss with this diet and doing program everyday.
