I am using them like once a day for one of my 2 snacks, or should I use something else? I am also using whey protein with water before and after my work out is that okay?

I'd stay away from using protein bars as much as you can. They're good every now and then, but they are loaded with a lot of bad crap. Very high in refined sugars (normally), have a lot of sodium, and also usually pack a ton of carbs. Also, the calorie to protein ratio is pretty poor. When it comes down to it, a "protein" or "power" bar is just a well marketed candy bar that is slightly more nutritious. For example, the protein bar you're eating -- Calories 240 Sodium 190mg Total Carbohydrates 31.0g Sugars 20.0g Protein 16.0g 240 calories for just 16 g of protein! A good whey protein shake gets you 25 g protein for every 120 calories. For the same amount of calories in this bar, you'd bet 50 g of protein versus 16. On top of that 20 g of sugar and 31 g of carbs! Really not very good nutritional quality. Better to stay with foods like egg whites, cottage cheese, whole grain cereal, fruits, etc. A good whey protein shake is good because normally it has a very low calorie to protein ratio, and very low carbs and sugar. |

it depends. if you're only a teir 1 on the nutrition plan, then a 100 calorie snack is half a protein bar. an entire bar would be considered a 200 calorie snack, like in teir 2 or 3. Also, a protein bar is in it's own sepearte category than snacks. for example, if you're allowed 1 200 calorie snack and 1 protein bar, you can eat 2 protein bars per day. If your'e allowed a 100 calorie snack, then you can eat 1 & 1/2 protein bars a day.

I've been eating the Luna Protein bars that are designed for women, but they have a lot of good stuff, I don't see why men can't eat them... and they taste great. Here are the nutrition facts:
Calories: 180 Fat Calories: 35 Sodium: 125mg Fat: 4g Sat Fat: 3g Carbs: 27g (only like 12 net carbs though) Sugars: 12g Proteins: 10g IMHO it's ideal, and they're only $1 at the grocery store. |

The Premier Nutrition bars I'm eating don't seem so bad. They're more of a meal replacement with the amount of calories, but next to comparable portions of other bars the fat and sugar seem lower and the protein in high.
Calories: 270-290 Fat: 6-8g Sat Fat: 3.5-4.5g Carbs: 25-27g Sugars: 8-10g Protein: 30g |
