Below are numbers I pulled from livestrong.com:

1 Large Whole Egg = 5g fat, 6g protein, 0.5g carbs
1 Large Egg White = 0g fat, 4g protein, 0g carbs

I understand being on a tight budget, but eggs are cheap. You aren't losing much food by getting rid of the yolks, but you are trimming a bunch of fat. The benefit of losing the yolks outweighs the extra few grams of protein you would get. If your worried about taste, there are all kinds of things you can add to spice it up. I like a few dashes of tobasco with garlic or some salsa.

The diet is tough, but if you follow it along with the workouts you will get the best results.

Thanks everyone for your input. After seeing the numbers it's safe to say that I will be avoiding the yolk like the plague. I want to do this thing right.

There is nothing wrong with egg yolks. I personally eat whole organic eggs every single morning and have been getting awesome results on p90x. The egg debate will go on forever. Studies have shown they are bad, and studies have shown they are good. Same goes for coffee, and just about anything else you can think of. Make it work into your caloric intake and get your blood tested when you finish p90x to test your cholesterol. Every person is different, so eggs might affect someone differently than others. Some might have raised cholesterol, and it might not affect other people. You could also just add in one or two yolks so you arent wasting so much food and money.

You know whats in egg beaters?

Egg whites (99%), less than 1%: Natural flavor, color (includes beta carotene), spices, salt, onion powder, vegetable gums (xanthan gum, guar gum).

Vitamins and Minerals: Calcium sulfate, iron (ferric phosphate), vitamin E (alpha tocopherol acetate), zinc sulfate, calcium pantothenate, vitamin B12, vitami nB2 (riboflavin), vitamin B1 (thiamine mononitrate), vitamin B6 (pyridoxine hydrochloride), folic acid, biotin, vitamin D3.

This is why I stick with just eggs so there isn't any extra crap my body doesnt need. Egg beaters are overpriced and filled with junk. If you can afford organic go that route. They have much more vitamins and minerals naturally, and the chickens aren't treated like crap.

Just a quick reply to billm0066, when you buy egg whites, not egg beaters, you get 100% egg whites. There are no artifical additives, colors, etc. when you buy 100% egg whites in a carton. I think egg beaters are meant more for people who want a little more yolk taste and aren't quite ready to go all the way %100 egg whites. At least, I know that why my sister uses egg beaters instead of egg whites.

I use Crystal Farms All Whites

Ingredients: 100% egg whites

$3.50 for a milk carton size container and last me all week.

Nuff said.

I've used both egg whites in a carton as well as egg whites from a real egg. Even though I'm sure it's cheaper to buy real eggs, I never did because I hated trying to separate the egg white from the yolk.

I actually just bought an egg white separate and have been using that. So far, it works really well. Think I'll be buying real eggs from now on, and probably making omelette's using 1 real egg with 2 egg whites.
