Is it ok if I drink 1 1/2 cups of 1% chocolate milk after my strength training exercises instead of the p90x recovery formula that I can't afford?

What I've decided to do is find a good protein powder and use it to make a protein shake, using that instead of the recovery drink. I drink a protein shake and eat a carb+protein meal post-workout.

On lighter days (Plyo, Kenpo, Cardio etc) I drink Chocolate Milk.

The people I've talked to have recommended 500mL.

I'm a bit wary of Chocolate Milk because it's protein content is 80% Casein and 20% Whey. Casein is a slow digesting protein that can take many hours to digest. This is the reason why I only drink it on days that don't involve muscle building.
